The Queue: Oh no (oh no?)

Oh no, I definitely didn’t forget to write the Queue. I am super prepared and would never do that. I also definitely did not just nope off to Pandaria for some relaxing kite flying (and to take notes on what I want my future home and garden to look like). Not me, I would never do that.

So let’s answer some questions!

KALCHEUS ASKED:

Q4tQ What is your must-have feature for WoW Player Housing?

A garden I can put pink flamingos in so my neighbors can admire it. (And when they complain, I can just add more flamingos.)

I’ve had a little apartment picked out in Ironforge for many years now. sometimes i pop over there and just chill out. It would be so cool to live in an expanded Ironforge that felt like a real neighborhood.

It did sound like we might be getting more locations in the future. Azeroth is packed with so many incredible locations, and we’re starting with a couple of basic ones. I hope they’ll be great, and we’ll have enough home (and garden!) options to customize it so it feels like home, even if it isn’t quite where we’d prefer.

But it does sound like we’ll be getting more locations in the future: Blizzard wanted to do a good job on these first locations rather than giving us dozens of locations that were rushed. So maybe later we’ll get a cozy corner of Ironforge apartments? We can hope.

XERIANNE ASKED:

Q4tQ: Why do alts get half as many Love Tokens as my main? She gets 10 for the quests and my alts all get 5 for the same quests.

I think Blizzard is making an effort for us to not make an effort. (Does that even make sense?) They’re encouraging us to do something once and then move on with our lives. The X-45 Heartbreaker is a good example of this: it has a higher chance of dropping on your first kill of the day and then goes back to a minuscule chance. So it isn’t worth running yourself ragged to take fifty alts through — you can spend ten minutes for a single boss kill without feeling like you’re missing out, or like you have to keep running alts.

In the same vein, this means you get the most value the first time you do these quests in a day, so you’re not encouraged (or not encouraged much) to farm endlessly. I haven’t heard an official Blizzard answer on this, but it does feel like it’s in-line with the devs’ thinking about drop rates lately.

SJHAWK SAID:

For those interested, the Civ 7 download is 18GB. I won’t be able to start my first turn for like 12 more hours tho…

So it’s a day later, and I assume you’re still playing. Are you still with us buddy? Are you staying hydrated? Remembering to take breaks to stretch? Civilization games are serious business.

MUSEDMOOSE ASKED:

Q4tQ (based on what Telwar said below): have you made any TTRPG characters even knowing that you’ll likely never play them? This can be any definition of “made”, from just having the concept to having a complete character sheet.

I have more than a few, but three really stick out in my head: my “Johnny Bravo but with superpowers” for an anime or supers game, my “casts spells with heavy metal lyrics” Ozzymancer for a Dresden Files game, and my “dance bard but actually a pro wrestler” for D&D 5E 2024.

You can only find so much time to play games, due to the unfortunate confluence of your schedule and everyone else’s schedule… but you can invent characters endlessly. Endlessly! Making a character and thinking about how classes and subclasses and abilities all fit together into an interesting character is half of the fun.

So… yes! Usually yes. Every time I’m in a game I come up with several ideas and I want to play them all. There’s never, never enough time.

That’s all for today, my friends. Take care, have a pleasant Friday afternoon, and I hope you all have a restful weekend to come. Take care everybody!
