The Queue: Let’s think positive!

It’s March 5th, but let’s stay positive, guys!

Welcome to The Queue, where we don’t let ourselves get overwhelmed by life, the universe, and everything. We tackle our daily affairs head on, like responsible adults. We do not procrastinate. We don’t play Civilization 5 until nearly 3 AM instead of getting a good night’s sleep. We got this!

VALENCEMAGI

Is there a more satisfying feeling that leveling in old content and getting a random mog drop item that is fantastic?

No, there isn’t! There’s a reason transmog is so popular. It’s somewhat unique among reward systems in WoW: it’s truly evergreen (no old content is ever abandoned and more content is automatically generated as the game gets new quests, dungeons, raids, etc.), and growing the collection is its own reward in a way that caters to self-expression like nothing else. What you get from transmog is exactly what you want to make from it. The game doesn’t need you to collect a certain specific set to look good; you make yourself look good (or bad, or funny), in whichever way you want.

There are a few major draws to leveling in old content, or just farming old dungeons or raids. Sometimes we just want to see quests we haven’t seen in a while, other times we’re chasing a rare mount or pet drop; but above all, we just want to collect new transmog pieces. So when we do find something that looks great — especially if we don’t expect it — that is, indeed, one of the best feelings.

HIGH DENSITY WAFFLE

You go decide to walk into a cave, how deep do you get before deciding to turn around?

No stopping ’til Undermine.

THOMAS STRANGE

I haven’t had much time to play this last week, and only just opened Undermine. What’s your favorite bit? Any “must do / can’t miss” quests or activities? Anything a drag that I have to hold my nose and finish as quickly as possible?

To be honest, I’m on a similar boat: I haven’t been able to get a ton of playtime in the zone yet, having just unlocked it and done the first few rounds of campaign quests (while stopping every now and then to kill a Rare or do a World Quest). So it’s hard for me to really vouch for any “must do” quests — but I haven’t found any activities that I didn’t enjoy either.

My favorite bit is just the atmosphere. It’s very much my jam: the music, the shady dealings, the noir vibe, the hilarious skybox. This doesn’t feel at all like the sterotypical goblin zones, and the characters aren’t those same old caricatures either. It goes way beyond any Goblin content we’ve seen before, in very good ways.

TELWAR

What’s the play pattern/visual look for a class you’d want to see added?

(From the “if it can’t yeet rocks, I don’t wanna play it” thread yesterday)

I love telekinesis, and while shadow priest is The Psychic Class, it doesn’t do the Yeet Things At People With Their Mind that I’d like. Maybe just have pure telekinetic shocks, like blurring the screen as they go, that kind of stuff.

Oh boy, there are so many!

The first that jumps to mind is a petless ranged weapon class. Something like the Demon Hunter from Diablo 3, you know? An assassin from the shadows, with traps, using crossbows against unassuming prey. A more “urban” version of a hunter, if you will.

I also really want that Tinker concept that they teased so much during Island Expeditions. Piloting mechs in combat, deploying turrets, using laser beams and flamethrowers and tesla coils, dropping mines, crushing things with giant claws, summoning healing bots, hitting people with injectors for buffs, coughing out toxic smoke, activating a defensive matrix, launching mini-missiles — seriously, there’s so much you can do that this class would easily fit all three specs and be a breath of fresh air among current WoW classes. It’s an absolute mystery to me how it still wasn’t added to the game.

Gladiator is also a given. Give Warriors the ability to fight with one-handed sword and a shield.

An Exorcist specialization for Paladins — good ol’ Shockadin — would also fit very easily in the game. Turn their Exorcism spell into the main nuke, with Holy Shock as a finisher, and add some more to it. Burn the witch!

A Necromancer spec for Death Knights where they’re ranged casters. A ranged spec for Demon Hunters where they use bows and shoot fel bolts. Tanking Warlocks make a return, turning themselves into Demons. And I’m gonna stop now because, seriously, I could write an entire column about this.

TWO QUICK ONES FROM MUSEDMOOSE

1) Get any good new transmog yet?

2) What video game news are you still hoping to hear about soon?

1) Funnily enough, in the initial quests to unlock Undermine you get some super cool-looking weapons that I’m absolutely planning to use.

2) You already know exactly what my answer is! This is bait!!

TWO QUICK ONES FROM KALCHEUS

1) Q4tQ If Metaphor: ReFantazio had a spinoff, what game type would you want it to be?

2) What VN do you hope I recommend in this article I’m currently writing?

1) Martira, Old Castle Town Management Simulator. Kinda like SimCity, kinda like Civilization, kinda like Warcraft. You need to keep the populace happy, uncover intrigue and plots, negotiate trade routes, offer jobs, build roads, maintain the city, while, of course, dealing with the constant Sandworm problem, and sometimes even endure a Human attack or two. Hire mercenaries! Maybe there’s a Giant Shadow Baby trying to eat your guards!

2) The one with the witches trying to get elected.

TWO QUICK ONES FROM ARTHONOS

1) Q4tQ: If you had to play through one Pokemon game from start to finish before you could go back to playing any other games, which would you pick?

2) Q4tQ: Is BlizzardWatch going to do a livestream reaction of the Switch 2 Direct? Asking now so you have a month to plan.

1) I’d probably replay Pokemon Sword. It was fun, had many likeable and cool-looking characters (Nessa! Sonia! Marnie! Bea!), the greatest gym battle music ever made, and it’s more modern than the other Pokemon games I enjoyed (which were the ones on the GBA, pretty much).

2)

I’ll… I’ll ask Liz.

Take care, friends! Ask lots of questions and have a good day! Let’s think positive!
