The Queue: Diggy Diggy Trash

Ok, that is admittedly a poor quality header image, but do you know how hard it is to take screenshots in the middle of digging through trash? Anyhow, sing it with me!
I am a Dwarf and I’m digging through trash
Diggy diggy trash
Diggy diggy trash

Digging through trash
I said this already earlier this week but I’ll repeat it here in case you missed it: the aesthetic of Undermine does nothing for me but the vibe is fantastic. I don’t plan on sticking around after the patch, mind you, but it’s kind of a nice break from the usual rigmarole our characters go through on a daily basis.
Anyhow Liz was not able to do the queue today so I’m taking a break from shoveling through trash for Empty Kaja’Cola Cans to answer your questions! Let’s get to it!
Q4tQ: Are we going to K’aresh in the next expansion or was it really destroyed?
For those who don’t know, K’aresh was destroyed by Dimensius and it’s where the Ethereals originally hailed from — you may remember that Locus-Walker told Alleria that the Radiant Song we’ve been hearing preceded their destruction as well. So how could we possibly go somewhere that was destroyed?
Just kidding, we’ve been to Outland and Argus so it’s another locale that’s probably only mostly dead. Are we going though? I honestly don’t know. Even though the Ethereals figure into the events of patch 11.1 I’m not sure what the point of following them to K’aresh (if that’s where they end up going). I don’t want to talk about it too much for spoiler reasons, but if they’re leaving Azeroth they may have actually solved one of our problems. So I expect that when we do fight the Ethereals it’ll be on our home turf, not theirs — or what’s left of it.
When a game lets you select your party members, do you go for optimization, or balance, or just pick whatever characters you like best?
Is laziness a choice? I’ll be honest, if I find a good combo of abilities among the party members I’ll usually stick with it until it stops working (and at the difficulty levels I play at it rarely does). Otherwise it’s the characters that drive my selection unless I’m leveling the ignored characters to get them up to snuff. One of the nice things about Metaphor: ReFantazio is that your benched characters gained experience from fights too so I didn’t have to do that once I got their social links high enough that the bench bonus was 100%.
How completely overwhelmed and confused will I be if I re-sub now?
I’ll be honest, Undermine can be overwhelming at first. You should stick to simply playing through the campaign until you get a hang of the zone, and then start working on the side quests one at a time. Fortunately it’s not too complicated, and once you get the hang of the zone it’s pretty easy to work on the various tasks. But trying to do it all from the start will ultimately confuse and frustrate you. Pace yourself, it’s not going away any time soon.
Q4tQ: if you had to have your player house in Undermine, where would you live?
I would have a suite at the Gallagio (post-Gallywix removal, of course). Normally I would pick something more in line with my character’s aesthetic, but that’s pretty much the only thing in the zone that matches it.
not much, how about you?
To quote Joe Walsh: I can’t complain but sometimes I still do
Q4tQ: which of the Video Game Hall of Fame 2025 nominees would you like to see inducted?
Here’s the full list and to be honest I think it’s quite the tough choice. As a certified Old Person™ I think Frogger and/or Defender should make it (while the latter is better, the former got pop culture cred via a Seinfeld episode). I’m tempted to say Golden Tee deserves to make it simply because of how ubiquitous it’s been over the past few decades. Honestly I don’t have an issue with any of them making it, but Mattel Football better make it because that is the best game of all time!
Q4TQ: who’s your favorite Goblin in WoW? Who’s your favorite goblin-like character (on any media)?
Quizla Blastcaps! I love the idea of a Goblin going extra-Goblin mode by embracing the Laughing Skull Orcs. Sadly she’s apparently at Siren Isle and hasn’t made it to Undermine this patch.
Outside of WoW I’m fond of the goblins in Gabital. They deserve better.
I didn’t get to include Please Be Happy in my Steam VN Fest writeup earlier this week because it’s not on sale but I wanted to give it a little attention because I just finished it and it’s pretty adorable. Plus it’s a genuine wish from me to you: please be happy. Have a great weekend, and please ask questions for Cory who will finally be back on Monday!
