The Queue: Blue Wednesday

I’m a fan of jazz music, but I wouldn’t really consider myself an aficionado — I only recently discovered Bud Powell, for example — but I really enjoy the vibe that jazz provides as a soundtrack (like in Undermine). Blue Wednesday goes a step further and makes being a jazz artist the central plot point while mixing elements of Visual Novels, Walking Sims and Rhythm Games. It’s a little on the short side, and it’s too easy to miss some important things on the first day of the game while you’re still getting the hang of it but the atmosphere and vibe are fantastic so I heartily recommend it.
While I finalize plans to visit the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City this September, let’s groove to some questions.
Q4TQ: How long does it take you to learn new keybindings if you make a change to yours? I swapped around my frost dk keys to better match my binds as blood and it is a struggle…
This is what the training dummies are made for. Every time I make a major keybinding change I spend at least an hour in front of one relearning my rotation. It’s long and boring but I know it’ll make me better in the long run.
Just kidding, I keep my keybindings as they are and mouse click actions more often than use a keyboard for them — I am what the kids call a “baddie”. I do have 2 set to interrupt on all my characters though, and 3 is my “tag the mob” button. My biggest issue is that on some characters 1 is an “oh crap” key like Feign Death or Ice Block but on other characters it’s a movement key like Harpoon or Spirit Wolf. I’ve accidentally Ice Blocked on my Mage more times than I can count.
Q4TQ: would you play a game called Florida Man Simulator, made by the developers of Goat Simulator, where you play as Florida Man, just running around and doing Florida Man things?
Probably not, no. Besides the fact that I’m not much into pure simulation-style games, I would die every time I tried to pet an alligator.
I’m sure I missed it somewhere but when does the C.H.E.T.T. List unlock? I see others getting credit but I have zero options with it except as a vendor for drinks.
The C.H.E.T.T. list becomes available at Renown 13 with the Cartels of Undermine. I wrote an article with more details here!
Q4tQ: How long do you think it will take for us to use the D.R.I.V.E. system to rob the Gallagio’s vault?
Honestly not too long. The Gallagio’s vault may appear to be well-protected, but true insiders know that vault is a decoy and the real gold is stored in a special hard-to-reach place — Gallywix’s Void Storage. We’ll need to challenge the Ethereals to get at the good stuff.
Speaking of the Gallagio …
When do you think the Gallagio will open and will it have mini games we can play?
Sadly due to the events of the Liberation of Undermine the Gallagio is getting new ownership and its gaming stations are temporarily closed while all the legalese is sussed out.
You’re right though: they really should’ve put some cool mini-games in for players. Maybe in patch 11.1.5 or 11.1.7.
It’s Poker Night! Who are the three or four Blizzard characters at the table with you? And how much do you win or lose?
I know everyone is expecting me to list three dwarves but I’m going to toss out a curveball and go with Flynn Fairwind, Swellthrasher and Cayden Dunwald (ok fine, one dwarf).
It’ll be a night none of us forgets. Well, maybe Flynn will forget if he drinks too much but I’ll be certain to take plenty of S.E.L.F.I.E.s.
What’s your favorite bird in WoW? Could be a pet, a mount, a boss or normal enemy, an NPC, etc.
Ohn’ahra. She was there at the Trueshot Lodge for the Hunter class hall campaign and we got some really cool background about her in Dragonflight. The mount is really neat too.
Q4tQ: You’ve been hired to create the Switch 1 Direct at the last second. What games do you highlight? What secret last minute surprise do you end with? What is the best end tribute for the system?
There are two games I would especially focus on: Professor Layton and the New World of Steam (release date trailer!) and Elite Beat Agents: Encore — a new game in my favorite “I wish they had made a sequel” series.
The last minute surprise would be: price cut! $50-100 off on the Lite, regular, and OLED models. And they all come with the new Professor Layton game! (ok, maybe not)
In terms of a tribute, I think it’s really a commitment to continue producing games for it even though the Switch 2 is imminent. Announcing that some of the titles to be revealed in one week will be playable on the o.g. Switch would help sales of the freshly discounted hardware.
That’s all the time and space we have for questions today. Marshmallow got a trim and polish yesterday so he’s ready for any heat waves that may arrive soon. Be good to each other and be sure to leave plenty of questions for Matt tomorrow!
