The Queue: Arthas gets the last laugh

A few weeks ago, I wrote that the Winter freeze had broken and Spring was here. There was a whole week of temperatures above freezing!

Oh boy, I should not have said that.

Arthas must’ve heard me and taken it personally. We got more cold, more snow, and then when that second round of snow went away — we got even more this weekend! There was 25 cm! Close to 10 inches for you non-metric people. Maybe next week spring can start.

While I invest in warm socks again, it’s time for — The Queue!

Torghast was pretty evil, thematically wise. I never found it that evil as a tank, though. Maybe with Brann, it wouldn’t be so bad for everyone else!

I do think it’s a pretty good idea, there are lots of assets there to reuse, and I always felt pretty cool running over some of those bridges over the great nothingness. There are lots of traps, and you could stuff a wing full of spider webs to summon Nerubians, Brann’s favorite!

That’s some good Rhumba. However, I’m not sure what the question I’m supposed to be answering here is. How did it make me feel?

I did like how I never quite felt like I had a handle on the piece. I like a nice bit of chaos. Or am I supposed to be talking about where it’d fit into a game? Clearly the ballroom dancing fight in Shadowlands was just the beginning and we’ll be getting a whole raid of dance encounters. From a nice bit of swing to start off, a rhumba break in the middle, and capping it all off — a 17-step intricate line-dance against the raid’s big bad Fiddle boss, Strato’vario.

People with Hunter alts will be begging to get them in on that one because he drops a really good bow!

I think just in general, if a game is going to have skeletons that you’ll stumble across in your explorations of that world, you’ll find those skeletons posed in the middle of doing mundane or silly things.

I love a great bit of environmental storytelling, and it’s hard to get over finding that first skeleton in a bathtub with a toaster in Fallout 3. 

Skeletons can make the most tragic things just a little silly! At least if that’s the vibe the game is going for, I’ve seen plenty of non-silly skeletons out in worlds, too. Usually though, there’ll be at least one goofy set-up of a few playing poker hidden somewhere. That poker table will also include a banana if it’s a game developed post-Balatro.

It probably is paying pretty well for early buzz because of the AI garbage in it. Easy to beat the bad rep that AI has by getting a lot of popular people on its side early on. I bet that influencer reactions to it will be on the same level as Raid: Shadow Legends before too long. A short term gain that could hurt your channel’s reputation.

Not usually in Warcraft , but recently, when I’ve been playing Avowed I’ve had a hard time pointing my character in the right direction. Maybe I’m just bad at reading their brand of fantasy compass!

It shouldn’t be that hard! Point your character and move in the direction of the largest point on the compass, but somehow I’ve wound up back at the same ruined farmstead covered in giant mushrooms more than once. I’m pretty sure that those giant mushrooms didn’t have anything to do with it either…

Hey Arthonos, you’re great and I love you! I’m glad you’re getting recognized for doing good work.

Not to undercut the specialness of that sentiment either, but everyone else reading this is also great and I love them!

Today’s Bacardi is poised and ready to hear why you need the fanciest gear in your vault. He may be the lucky charm you need, but you’re gonna have to sell him on why exactly you need a fist weapon that makes you do golden uppercuts. Ok wait, that one isn’t a good example, it’s too awesome. I’m sure there’s a piece of gear that is something you’d get a huge upgrade from that isn’t quite so in your face awesome, like a nice pair of bracers. Sure they’re not exciting, but the stats are nice!
