The Queue: When will the indignities end?

This is very undignified. That’s really all there is to say about it. At least last time this happened I was right-side up. But no.

Anyway, while I’m here I may as well try to answer some questions before the blood all rushes to my head and I pass out. Let’s Queue.

SILKSLINGER FARADAI ASKED:

Q4TQ: What is the best way to configure Brann’s curios in season 2? I feel like the Combat Curious don’t proc anywhere near as much in season 2 as season 1. In fact, I’ve heard the rank 4 curious are bugged and actually proc less than rank 3, for sure with Mechasaur EZ Build Kit.

I run the Mechasaur and the Bioprinter. I don’t know if it’s a great combination, but I saw both recommended when I went looking. The Bioprinter seems to proc a lot for me, but the Mechasaur doesn’t seem to proc often, so maybe I could do better.

But this is anecdotal, and frankly a lot of the advice I’ve seen seems anecdotal. Requires more experimentation.

THOMAS STRANGE ASKED:

Anyone know what Lothraxion has been up to? It seems like Black Blood, void, and the light of Beledar would be primo opportunities for him to show up.

Leaving hanging plot threads is kind of a classic World of Warcraft move.

It’s part of the narrative experience of having a game with such a varied staff of writers, with people coming and going, priorities changing, pasts being rewritten and cleaned up and just forgotten. Warcraft has so much story going in so many directions that it’s frankly impossible to bring up every loose end, and if no one is a big fan of Lothraxion, or he would be part of a story they aren’t interested in telling, or he’s just not part of the story they do want to tell, well, Lothraxion isn’t going to be there.

Does it seem like he would have tie-ins here? Sure. Does that mean he’s going to show up? Not necessarily. Is there going to be a canon reason explaining that? Unlikely.

It’s the unfortunate reality of a twenty year old game set in a thirty year old universe that spans multiple games, books, comics… it’s impossible to close every circle, tie up every loose end, connect every dot.

ARTHONOS ASKED:

Q4tQ: So most new PS5 and Xbox games are going for $70, but it seems that new Switch 2 games are going to cost $80. Granted there is talk about getting a discount if you buy the digital version, but as someone who tries to buy physical as often as possible, I’m little worried this is going to make me have to be more picky about which games I buy. What are your thoughts?

It’s part of a trend of increasing prices for major game releases, and now that it’s started it seems very unlikely that it will reverse. With a limited game budget, that’s going to mean picking and choosing the new releases you buy and waiting for sales for other titles. Video games can get deep discounts after they’ve been on the market for a while, and can be bought used (though it’s increasingly difficult to find local retailers carrying used games) once the original owner has played them.

For my part, I rarely buy new games anyway. I don’t have the budget for every interesting title that appears (though in my case, I can cheat this by using Xbox Game pass, which gives me access to a lot of newer titles). But by waiting a while you can almost always find some good discounts… and you can get a better feel of the reviews to know whether it’s a game you’ll like in the first place. Win/win.

That’s all for today, friends. So hang in there over the weekend, have a good Friday afternoon (not necessarily in that order), and I’ll see you back here next week.
