The Queue: Muscle Memory

It doesn’t matter how long it’s been between matches, I can’t start a game of Heroes of the Storm without a polite greeting and a “good luck, have fun.” I could have suffered a concussion and lost an arm, but I’d still do it!
It’s that important!
Ending with a GG and/or a “better luck next game” is also important, but that one can be tougher. Especially if you’ve just gotten run roughshod over and people have been being salty. I still try though, just maybe not super hard sometimes…
Hi friendos! Good luck and have fun, it’s time for — The Queue!
I am exhausted. I am no longer in NYC Museum shape. I need to start training for a Full Smithsonian.
You can do it! Maybe you’ll even work your way up to a week at the Louvre!
I feel like it’s the slow walking and standing that really does me in. You don’t get into a nice rhythm to walk with. Also, the crowds! There are so many people all trying to see the same stuff, now you’ve gotta take extra time to get around that family of 17 from Canada who just really wanted to see the big whale at the Natural History museum.
I also get the same tiredness in haunted houses. Although that has more to do with my legs being all tensed up in a fight-or-flight response. I love them, and always have fun, but after my legs are ready for it to be Christmas, where there are no spooky things to avoid.
Q4tQ: do you think every game where you can customize your character’s abilities has the equivalent of Skyrim’s infamous “stealth archer”? Asking because in my new Cyberpunk 2077 run, I’m going netrunner, which means a lot of sneaking around, detecting enemies, and taking them out before they spot me, usually with attacks from a distance. And it just hit me today that yep, I’m now a stealth archer, even if I’m hitting them with hacks.
I think anything with a stealth component can see that happening, like when Liz did it in Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. You can pull it off pretty well in Avowed as well. I think we see lots of people falling into that archetype, is less about the coolness of being a Batman-esque figure that strikes from the shadows (still very super cool), and more about gameplay efficiency.
If you can get abilities that let you one-shot people, and keep out of danger — that does sound like a pretty fast way to get through things. Especially the avoiding danger part, the biggest time loss in any game is usually dying and having to reload from a checkpoint — and who knows how long ago one of those was! So ranged safety and high damage potential can easily outweigh any slower playing by being a bit sneakier.
I typically find that I just don’t have the patience for it, though. I’m very much the “oops, a guard saw me — oh well, no choice now but to unleash chaos and destruction” kind of player. Especially when chaos and destruction involve dropping flaming meteors on people’s heads and the odd bit of high explosives.
@Cory – I fed my cats that Friskies lil soup after getting home from work. Piper didn’t seem that into it, Pop ate one and Penny ate both hers and Piper’s. I scolded Penny, telling her she was gonna get fat. She said screw you dad, Imma do what I want. QftQ: what’s a cat dad to do? =(
I’m glad that two out of three like it!
I’m afraid that there isn’t help for Penny, though; she’ll have to learn to live with the consequences of her soup gluttony. She doesn’t truly have a problem until you find a stash of them under her bed.
Until then, just remind her that filling up on soup means she might not get as much main meal and try not to take the eye rolls too personally.
Q4tQ who do you think will be our Delve companion in Midnight? Since we know part of it will be taking place in Blood Elf territory, perhaps Liadrin?
You know what’s all over Blood Elf territory? Ruins and artifacts! Brann is going to be itching to get a firsthand account on those and thus will be accompanying you again.
Which is certainly how I could see it playing out. Since Blizzard seems to like keeping him around throughout The War Within it wouldn’t be the furthest stretch to have him continue accompanying you in the future. Although I do like your Lady Liadrin idea, she has the Blood Elf-ness going for her. Big points there. She also has the trifecta of specs available by being a Paladin, and then there’s the whole fact that Paladins are big proponents of the Light and would fit right in as your good buddy in a Void-heavy expansion.
I’d also like to put forward the idea of an Evoker companion. Any of the big-name NPCs would be fine, but it will be the second expansion from when they were introduced and a good opportunity to bring them forward in the story a bit. They’re not quite as tanky as a Paladin can be, but that can be handwaved away with any number of things. Like adding a fourth Evoker spec that’s all about tanking! They could join Druids with having four specs and really rub it in everyone else’s face.
Q4TQ: do you have any thoughts about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
Heroes in a half-shell!
They’re a fun bit of legacy IP that seems to always be popping up in some new way, but never explodes in huge popularity. I remember playing with their toys when I was a wee lad, and have always loved weaponized pizzas. Their most recent movie was pretty fun! I loved the funky animation and good cast list. Maybe we’ll get another couple of installments from it. I have a few of their trade paperbacks kicking around, too, so I definitely like the concept of mutant turtle people fighting crime. I just wish that there was more consistency from them.
Oh no.
Bacardi is being a jokester this week and giving you the cat equivalent of the :P face. This doesn’t bode well for your loot luck, I’m sorry. I’ll try and talk to him, but my hands are tied. I don’t make the rules here.
