The Queue: Happy Noblegarden

Happy Easter Noblegarden, everyone! I hope that you can go out and get all of your new fun transmogs and another year down on the checks notes 6!? year duck transmog journey. Ok, that has to be a typo; nobody would make something that took six years to fully complete in Warcraft.

Three different orphans for Children’s week is fine, but six different duck disguises?! Absurd! Who even knew there were that many flavors of duck?

While I go brush up on my duck watching skills, it’s time for — The Queue!

MUSEDMOOSE GROWIN’ UP, YOU DON’T SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL PASSIN’ BY, MOVIN’ STRAIGHT AHEAD, YOU KNEW IT ALL

Q4tQ: thanks to this header image, has anyone else spent the past three days saying “What is this?” to themself whenever they click on the Queue?

It made me think of Nightmare Before Christmas, so I would hum a few bars of What’s This before going about my business.

Sometimes earworms are that easy! The unintentional ones always work better than the ones you try and inflict anyway.

Not that that will stop me from trying to get Anna with a different one each week.

ARTHONOS PLAY THE GAME, YOU KNOW YOU CAN’T QUIT UNTIL IT’S WON SOLDIER ON, ONLY YOU CAN DO WHAT MUST BE DONE

Q4tQ: How would you feel if a patch zone was not the location of that patch’s raid? As an example: if 11.2 added K’aresh where all the daily quests, world events, and rep grind took place, but the raid itself had us going through a portal to the Rootlands / Coreway where we fight to defend the Worldsoul against Ethereals.

I’d feel like it’s been done before! Kind of.

Way way back in Mists of Pandaria, we had the Siege of Orgrimmar, but we set out from the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, and then hopped in a convenient Mage portal when it was actually time to, y’know, siege.

We could see that happen again, where we start off in the new zone, and then have a handy-dandy handwavey method of reaching the true end point.

As for actually having the whole raid somewhere else, I don’t think it’d be a good idea. You want the bulk of your players hanging out in the new area, interacting with your new toys and faction and whatnot. Guilds will all charge en masse into the raid and not really mess with the area too much at raid time, but someone who is bored while trying to pug might take the opportunity between fights and requests to go pick some flowers or kill a rare.

RED CAN SEE A NEW HORIZON UNDERNEATH THE BLAZIN’ SKY I’LL BE WHERE THE EAGLE’S FLYING HIGHER AND HIGHER

Q4TQ: would you race change your Arms Warrior to Void Elf or Mechagnome to do 0.000001% more DPS?

No way! You’re talking to a guy who stayed Venthyr the whole way through Shadowlands whether it was the right throughput choice or not. Unless you’re going to seriously apply to a top ten Race to World First guild, you don’t need that fractional DPS increase to play something that isn’t what you want to play.

I mean unless you really wanna be a lil cyber-Gnome — in which case, yeah go for it! Get yourself a whole set of steak knives and other kitchen gadgets built into your arms.

GONNA BE YOUR MUSEDMOOSE IN MOTION, ALL I NEED’S THIS PAIR OF WHEELS TAKE ME WHERE MY FUTURE’S LYIN’, ST. ELMO’S FIRE (OOH, OOOH, OOOH)

Q4tQ: recent rumors say that Bethesda will drop an Oblivion remake/remaster out of nowhere on April 21. Do you think this will happen?

Oh probably. Oblivion could have done better, and this might give it a chance to reach the same meme status that Skyrim has.

I just know that they won’t fix the awful performance in their voice acting from the original, because they’d have to rerecord it all. It turns out that if you give your voice actors their lines to record alphabetically rather than in any sort of proper scene order, it tends to not go as well. Who knew!

JUST ONCE IN HIS LIFE A JALAMENOS HAS HIS TIME AND JALAMENOS’ TIME IS NOW, THEY’RE COMING ALIVE

So I’m watching this movie where the main villain is the head of some old super rich family that wants to acquire a treasure.
I really don’t get that – if I had a billion dollars, I’d consider my pursuit of wealth to be finished. Why would I need more?

Well, there are a lot of examples in media and books about how greed is bad for you and poisons you/your soul, and you spend the rest of your life trying to fill an unfillable hole because you’ll never have enough, no matter what you do. I just saw a post on Bluesky talking about how business majors are always annoyed when they try and figure out how Costco works as a company, because there’s not really a trick. It’s just a well-managed and ethical company that has spent 40 years building up its good reputation with consumers, and as such, there’s no shortcut to making billions of dollars.

Now, if you were going to be a villain in a movie chasing treasure, that could be a status symbol. Sure, you’ve got a billion kicking around, that’s cool, but it’d be a lot cooler if you had the crown jewels of England and a billion dollars. Maybe they’re after a magic artifact to help them live forever or bring someone back to life. There are always reasons for more treasure!

I’ve also heard a take that even when you have a villain in charge of a worldwide evil organization that influences things behind the scenes, they could always use more treasure. Gold and valuables are harder to track, and easier to use to pay for illegal things. Sure, you could waste a bunch of time, money, and effort laundering a bunch of money — or you could just give that foreign despot a literal chest of gold and call it good. Let them figure out how to explain how they’ve gotten their hands on it.

Today’s Bacardi is just looking for a little help to escape his fiendish owner, who keeps bothering him. We’re all trying to figure out who that could be. In the meantime, I’m sure that if you lend a boop or two in solidarity, he’ll reward you handsomely.

Today’s Anna Earworm™: St. Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion)

See you next week, everyone! Same (new) Bat time, same (original) Bat channel!

I think it’s still the same (fantastic) Anna tomorrow, so make sure you leave her lots of questions too.
