The Queue: A normal amount

Hey, we’re all here, doing things completely chill and normal. No freakouts about anything. You can tell because I’m not even using exclamation points. I might even stop capitalizing stuff, make it totally relaxed and inconspicuous.
this is the queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and there’s nothing else on our minds so of course we have an answer.
QftQ: If your character got tossed into prison for an unspecified crime at the beginning of a game, such as Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, what do you imagine the crime to have been? P.S. It was probably a minor crime, since the guards didn’t even blink when you casually strolled back into the city after your escape, lol.
In the Elder Scrolls universe if I’m in jail it’s probably because of something like petty theft or pickpocketing or a B&E, because I clearly didn’t learn from watching Uriel Septim get got right in front of me and I continue my life of crime after I get sprung. If there’s one constant, it’s that I always end up playing a sneaky archer, no matter what my intent was at the beginning of the playthrough. I’m not really a ruthless assassin; I just can’t help myself from stealing all the cheese wheels.
Though to be fair I commit a few light murders and pay off the guards pretty frequently without breaking a sweat so I’m not sure they’re any good at their jobs anyway.
So, Noblegarden is still collecting eggs, a couple of daily quests, and then the once a day duck boss?
Pretty much! That’s part of why it’s so short. There aren’t a ton of rewards, it’s all about the love of the game (and the game is standing in one spot clicking eggs).
But I do want to take this opportunity to remind you (everyone really) that there is a cute duck costume to earn, and that if you want all the different colorations on just one character it’s gonna take you a minimum of six years to get it done. So make sure if you want to be all the cute baby duckies, you’re making it a priority to get that done for this year.
Q4tQ How are you enjoying Blue Prince?
Blue Prince is a game that rams together a few of my favorite genres — even just from the baseline marketing blurb it’s basically made for me. I tend to enjoy roguelikes, depending on the overarching gameplay — my current favorite of Blizzard games is Hearthstone Battlegrounds, which is essentially a card-based PVP roguelike, for instance. I’m also all about games featuring puzzles, both in terms of true puzzles like anagrams or sudoku, but also whodunnit deduction puzzles. The tricky thing is, the game is next to impossible to talk about, because every teeny tiny aspect you might think of is potentially a spoiler, from the names of rooms all the way down to what you might think is innocuous props and set dressing in those rooms (it’s usually a clue to a puzzle you didn’t realize was in need of solving).
As such: I’m also a fan of complex narrative. Ahem.
After the initial puzzles start to shake out, there’s a bit of a plot point which is revealed which makes things… well. I kept asking Liz if she “got to The Part” yet, and her response was mostly “I don’t know what you’re talking about” until she got to The Part. Now we’re in each others’ DMs about it, because even this, alluding to there being a capital-p Part, is a drastic spoiler for this game. Saying this game reminds me of this book or that movie, spoiler. A lot of the appeal is in puzzling things out, in the slow realizations you personally make, and you want someone else to get to That Part to start making those connections so you can talk about it, but in even questioning whether they’re at The Part yet begins to tear down that experience.
So basically at this point, 2 weeks from release, I’m quietly losing my mind all alone in a spreadsheet with seven tabs at last count, waiting for everyone else to catch up. Do I recommend this game? If you like puzzles and narrative, and trust me bro.
So, enjoying it a normal amount.
Q4tQ:
If I only boop Bacardi once does that cover all my toons or just my main?
While I don’t think it’ll make a true numbers effect on your luck stat, he’s such a good soft boy you might as well give him an extra lil pat just in case.
