The Queue: À ta santé!

Let’s have a toast, Queue, for life is to be celebrated. To your health!
1) Q4tQ Did you watch the WoW Housing hands-on videos? What are your thoughts so far?
2) Q4tQ do you think there will be any housing items added to the 6 month/annual sub?
1) Not all of them, because that would be too repetitive, since they’re all basically sharing their impressions on the exact same content — and it’s limited content without a lot of details. But I did watch some, and I really liked what I saw.
Besides the powerful customization tools — the heart of the feature — a few other things really excite me, such as the fact that there is quite a lot to collect, and more will be added whenever any new future content is developed, pretty much — just like with transmog. And the fact that professions will be majorly involved in this system, including older recipes. is neat as well — I think it’s great that old materials will be made relevant again.
Also, although they weren’t many, we did get a few details about neighborhoods, and how new content will be constantly developed for that as well. Neighborhoods do involve housing, but are more about the community itself. It really feels like Blizzard is taking valuable lessons from the Garrison experiment to ensure housing doesn’t commit the same mistakes — chief among them being player isolation, and player self-sufficiency.
2) Yes, without a doubt. If not right at release, then at some point in the future. I expect housing items to become akin to transmog items, pets, mounts, and toys — the kind of reward you can pretty much always count to be obtainable in a plethora of ways.
1) We’ve been waiting for new Persona announcements literally all year. Do you still think we’ll get something at the game show that’s happening in June?
2) Now that we’ve had a bunch of new housing info, how do you plan to decorate your characters’ homes?
3) Which of your favorite romanceable game characters would you like to see meet, and which ones really shouldn’t?
1) I really do think the Persona 4 Remaster announcement is imminent! (And it comes before the Persona 6 announcement.) But I have no idea how long after P4R does P6 get announced. I feel like Atlus doesn’t want to announce it until it’s less than a year away — it’s how they’ve been doing their announcements lately.
2) No clue! This is the kind of thing where I don’t like to make plans: I’d prefer to simply start playing with the tools, assets and decorations I have available, and see what springs up from that. It’s usually more fun that way for me.
3) Hmmm… tough one. But whenever I browse the internet for fanart, I do see a lot of people making crossovers between Persona 5 and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, so I’ll go with that. I think it would be fun for Haru Persona to meet Marianne Fire Emblem; their personalities are super compatible, and they’re voiced by the same English VA, Xanthe Huynh.
As for “shouldn’t?” I really don’t know, so I’ll cheat and go with another “should” instead: Kawakami Persona and Manuela Fire Emblem! I’m sure they’d have a lot to talk about, sharing stories about school, students, and… non-school job things over a drink or four!
Q4tQ: If you were given the option of learning spells from WoW, with the catch that if anyone sees you performing the casting animation of said spells you instantly lose all your magical abilities forever, what spells do you pick?
Anything instant-cast. So Blink, Slow Fall, Invisibility, lots of healing spells (Cure Disease, Riptide, Renewing Mist)…
Arthonos: Sorry, no instant cast spells allowed for this silly thought experiment :D
Ah, that makes sense — though it kinda kills the ones I wanted the most (like Invisibility). I’ll go with Teleport spells, assuming there are actually locations I could Teleport to — say, “Teleport: Office” or “Teleport: Paris” or something. I’d also go with any non-instant cast heals, such as Regrowth — I could always heal myself privately, though it would be a shame not to be able to use it on others. Conjure Refreshment would be very useful as well.
Oh, Create Soulstone! Dang, I’d bind myself to a Soulstone every single day, first thing in the morning.
Will I be able to see my house from the top of Highmountain?
What about Neverest?
Do you think it’ll be possible to turn the floors of our house into lava?
This would actually be a fantastic idea. Something like this — which could be presented (or disguised) as “Dark Iron Dwarf content” — would allow players to make neat puzzles for people to participate in. Hopefully it’s a toy-like lava, in that even if it kills you, it doesn’t incur durability damage to your items, so players don’t feel shy about trying the challenges. That’s how I would implement it anyway!
Q4tQ: does anyone use the various undermine coats in their xmogs?
I haven’t obtained them yet! The coolest one (the black one) sadly comes from a huge rep grind, and I kinda hate rep grinds, so I’m counting that one out. The green one comes from RNG, which is also kinda meh, but maybe I could start trying for it. But I should definitely start working on the one that comes from a questline! I’ve already started that questline a few weeks ago; I should finish it, so thanks for giving me some motivation to do so!
You’ve said you can’t wait to do Horrific Visions; What is so enticing about them for you? Make me care about it :)
I don’t know; it was just a piece of content in BfA that I thought was really fun. I enjoy these solo challenges a lot — I was among those weird players who actually liked Torghast, for instance. Horrific Visions are challenging and bite-sized enough that they give you a pretty good rush, and they allow for mastery: you can always try to improve your results, beating it with one or more masks (and they’re even increasing the number of masks from how many there were in BfA).
If you’re the kind of player who likes content like this, where there’s a challenge that you need to learn in order to succeed, and then you can try a harder difficulty, etc., this content might appeal to you as well. I love that kind of gameplay, and not just in WoW.
Assuming 11.2 brings us some new campsites for our warband… Any places from previous expansions, dungeons, or raids that you’d like to see represented?
Ooh, that’s an excellent question. For zones in general, from BfA, I’d love to see Stormsong Valley; that’s probably my #1, but I’d also like a Drustvar background. Draenor has three zones I really enjoy: Shadowmoon Valley, Nagrand, and Spires of Arak. There’s also Pandaria: Valley of the Four Winds would be nice; perhaps using your own farm as a backdrop.
Now, dungeons and raids? I really like the general vibes of Throne of Thunder, Ulduar, and Karazhan. In fact, Karazhan would probably be my #1 now that I think about it; I’ll bump Stormsong down to the #2 spot.
À ta santé… enfin, à la mienne aujourd’hui!
