How to unlock Corruption head enchants from Return to Horrific Visions

WoW players have finally gotten access to one of the major features of patch 11.1.5 — the Bronze Dragonflight has come to Dornogal to usher in our Return to Horrific Visions. Delving into the Void’s vision for a darkness-riddled Stormwind or Orgrimmar and returning safely will, over time, yield cosmetics a-plenty, including new mounts and transmog; however, many players are also interested in a little power bump from some returning old friends — head enchants that echo the old Corruption mechanics from Battle for Azeroth, now back in less-harmful form to power you up for the rest of The War Within’s Season 2. Wondering how to snag these new Runes and their powered-up Greater versions?

Initially, you’ll unlock the Lesser Runes of Corruption, such as Lesser Rune of Infinite Stars, by delving into Horrific Visions. You’ll want to start with the beginning of the quest chain, Seeking Knowledge of the Past, bringing you to where Soridormi and company have set up shop in Dornogal just south of the Coreway. Following that quest chain will teach you how to enter and survive in Horrific Visions, ending in the quest Remembering Again and Again. After that, you can finally pick up the quest Borrowing Corruption, which tasks you with finding 500 Displaced Corrupted Mementos and 8 Black Blood Residue. The Mementos come from pretty much anything in Horrific Visions, but the Residue will come from completing side objectives inside Horrific Visions that reward a chest at the end — these usually require doing specific objectives in side areas in one of the cities. You can earn a maximum of 4 Black Blood Residue from a single run, meaning it will take you a minimum of two Visions to complete this quest. Once you’ve finished that, you’ll get one free Lesser Rune and Augermu in Dornogal will allow you to buy more for 500 Mementos — and they’re Warbound, so you can buy them for your alts too!

Access to the more powerful Greater Runes is time-restricted for this first week; you’ll know it’s available when you can pick up the quest Enhancing Corruption. This tasks you with collecting 8 Black Blood Coagulate and 1000 Displaced Corrupted Mementos; Black Blood Coagulate drops only from the chests from the harder “Lost Area” side objectives of each Vision — Mage Quarter and Old Town in Stormwind, and the Valley of Honor and Valley of Wisdom in Orgrimmar — so it’ll take you a minimum of four runs. Furthermore, you must turn on at least one Faceless Mask (making the Horrific Visions slightly horrific) in order to make them drop; you are guaranteed to get one after your first full completion of a Vision — meaning you must do all four side objectives and kill the final boss. As before, once you unlock them, Augermu will sell you more, but for 1000 Mementos apiece this time.

One last tip while doing these — around the time you can pick up Borrowing Corruption, you will gain access to a Construct of Soridormi that can act as a healer, DPS, or tank alongside you, similar to Brann in Delves; however, for the time being, it is recommended you do not activate this construct. Right now taking Soridormi with you causes enemy health to massively increase, while she contributes very little in any role and dies easily — very likely a bug.
