Holly Longdale upstages Midnight cinematic in stunning IRL transmog, leaving us wondering where we can get that coat
For many World of Warcraft fans, the highlight of the Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live stream was not the tepid Midnight cinematic reveal, but the breathtaking fashion display of perennially well-dressed Vice President and Executive Producer of WoW, Holly Longdale.
If that sentence gives you a bit of draconic déjà vu, then you might be remembering Holly’s show-stopping red leather coat from BlizzCon 2023. She later posted that Wanda at Renegade Effects Group crafted the look with Alexstraza as the inspiration. It was a perfect outfit for a major appearance in the middle of the Dragonflight expansion, and it certainly set a high fashion bar for her future official appearances.
While other developers taking the stage at Gamescom this year went with jeans-and-t-shirt looks or uninspired suits, Holly once again set herself apart with a floor-length deep-blue coat. Her entrance from a set of stairs upstage was as dramatic as Blizzard events usually are, and the music playing almost seemed like her personal theme song instead of some generic epic-sounding background score.
The coat itself was well-matched with black leather, but the true highlight was the four-inch Frostmourne attached to the zipper. What better way to cap the ensemble than a mini replica of the sword that Arthas wielded during his march on Silvermoon City. Given that Azerothian history has repeated itself and we will once again be desperately defending the Sunwell from unspeakably evil invaders, the entire look couldn’t have been any better.
In an appalling oversight on the part of Blizzard, neither Holly’s red Dragon Queen coat from 2023 or this week’s Midnight–blue number are available as in-game cosmetic appearances. Perhaps they are being saved to serve as the reward of some Worldsoul Saga-wide meta achievement. Until that time, we can only raise our Home, Sweet Home flagons from our new Player Housing living rooms and speculate on Holly’s BlizzCon 2026 jacket.
