The Queue: Hippos are death machines
I’m not saying that telling someone to hug a hippo is attempted murder. But I am saying that it’s a very, very bad idea to actually follow that advice. I know you’ve all heard about how cute house hippos are, but they don’t actually exist and real hippos are considered one of the most dangerous animals in the world.
I’m honestly not surprised, considering that they can weigh up to four and a half to five tons and have tusks the size of railroad spikes. To put this in context, a hippo could body an Allosaurus, because it weighs almost twice as much as the biggest estimated sized Allosaurus specimen we have to date.
Please do not hug a hippo. It will kill you if you are lucky.
Q4tQ: Labor Day is over, and kids are back in school for us now so is it too early to start decorating for Halloween?
The neighbors have started decorating and my kids are ready to as well.
I live in Canada, and so up here, pretty much the only force to combat people from decorating their houses for Christmas in September is Halloween. Think of decorating early for Halloween as a force field that helps delay Christmas lights flashing in your windows on awesome fall evenings that are not ready for winter.
I say decorate for Halloween with all your might, and then keep those decorations up and just put a Santa hat on one of your skeletons.
I wonder what alt I should start gearing up next, anyone want to lobby for a particular spec?
Assassination Rogue.
You already have a Hunter, a Warrior and a Shaman, and I feel like Rogues are pretty fun to level.
Dang. Whoever made the Void Sweeper WQ needs to go back to school and retake “How to NOT Make Vague Annoying World Quests.”
Man, people are always going on about how I’m never going to use Algebra in real life but I’m positive I’ve used that one at least 300 / x times more than I have that World Quest class.
Imagine if the being surprised and confused to be summoned along with the Army of the Light is Anveena
“Where is my boyfriend and why is he dating the memory recording of his own grandmother?”
Q4TQ: Do you know anyone still playing Classic?
I have been perplexed by Classic’s progression from the Vanilla game – which no longer exists in retail and whose popularity is easy to understand – into the more modern era of the game.
Every expansion has people with powerful nostalgia for, sure, but still. Pandaria hasn’t gone anywhere. Why do the grind all over again for a temporary mode?
Every expansion is someone’s favorite expansion, and every expansion was someone’s first expansion. Humans are interesting in that we can often come to see the conditions we experience earlier as ‘better’ than ones we experience later.
For me, while I loved Mists at the time, it was far from my first WoW expansion and therefore I did not feel an overwhelming need to experience it again. Plus, honestly ReMists was sort of a better fit for what I want out of going back to older content anyway — it let me experience Pandaria again while also letting me bring transmog back to the main character I’ve been playing for years.
But for everyone like me, there’s someone who first started playing in Cataclysm or Legion who would enjoy getting to play the game that WoW was when they were introduced to it, or to get to go back and see the experience more closely to how it was when it was current, or even just to play a spec the way they liked it.
As for do I know people playing it, well, my friend’s list would certainly suggest to me that I do.
You know, I love Delves, but if all the Goblin stories added for 11.1 to the launch delves could be removed and launched into the Sun, I’d really appreciate it.
I’m curious how we would go about launching stories into the sun. I mean, I guess we could launch every trace of them encoded data that was used to present those stories, but if one person still remembers them, they will still exist which seems to be against the whole reason for launching things into the sun.
Then again, you got me curious and so far as I can tell we’ve only ever launched anything into the sun’s outer corona and that was the Parker Solar Probe. Also, thanks to how we used Venus to help gravity boost the probe, we actually got it to travel at 0.064% the speed of light. So the only thing we’ve even shot at the vicinity of the sun was the fastest thing ever to be built on Earth.
This is honestly how my brain works. I sat down to answer a question about Goblin stories in World of Warcraft and ended up being excited that we used Venus to accelerate a spacecraft to 690,000 KPH.
So yeah. Don’t hug hippos, they will kill you and if they don’t they will almost certainly cover you in something you do not want them to cover you in.
Have fun and please stay safely away from hippos.
