Hades 2 is live — take down Chronos, the Titan of Time, today!

Hades 2 has been in Early Access for a year and a half, much to our collective delight. But thanks to a recent Nintendo Direct, we received a release date of September 25 — almost exactly five years after the original Hades released! So get ready to plumb the depths of the Underworld as Melinoë as Hades 2 is now live.

The community lost their collective minds when Hades 2 was initially announced at the Game Awards in 2022. The first Supergiant Games sequel was bound to be a big one, especially after the acclaim of the first title. Players have racked up thousands of hours in the original; heck, it took three years for someone to beat the game at max difficulty without any mods or seed-seeking and has shown up in at least a few Games Done Quick speedruns, always with fan demands to pet the dog.

Thus far, the sequel hasn’t disappointed. Supergiant has been incredibly thorough with their Early Access period, rolling out three major updates (and multiple fix patches) during the 15 month period for testing. Each update expanded both play scope and features in the title while bringing system improvements (and sometimes, new boon givers). It’s not hyperbole to say there is at least twice as much to do in H2.

Hades 2 expands off the story from the initial title — you are Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and younger sister of Hades’ Zagreus. Unlike your brother, you are starting your adventures from Hekate’s Crossroads. And this time, you are aided by all twelve Olympians (plus a few other notable characters from Greek myth). Like the original, the soundtrack is an absolute banger — enjoy the individual tracks or the full soundtrack in one video on the studio’s YouTube.

The full Hades 2 v1.0 patch releases the entire story (until now obscured during Early Access) and is available on PC, Switch, and Switch 2 for $29.99 at launch, with the same cross-save features available in Hades. Supergiant refers to the game as the biggest they’ve ever made, and frankly, they’re right! So strap in, folks — Hades 2 is now live and ready for you to play. Death to Chronos!
