Turbo Boost returns for The War Within Season 3 with the release of patch 11.2.5 — Puzzling Cartel Chips now live!

The War Within patch 11.2.5 arrives on October 7 and with the patch comes the return of Turbo Boost for Season 3. Like its original implementation in Season 2, the Turbo Boost will help players make progress in Manaforge Omega and Mythic+ content, although the most desired aspect of the boost — Puzzling Cartel Chips — will not be available when the patch releases but will arrive in a second wave of buffs the week of October 21 — now available!

Puzzling Cartel Chips will work similar to Season 2; the first week players will be able to earn three chips to make an immediate purchase and then the quest will switch to one chip a week afterwards up to a maximum of nine chips allowing the purchase of three items. As with the previous season players will need to defeat 4 bosses on Normal difficulty or higher or complete 4 Mythic+ dungeons to finish the quest.

In order to purchase Mythic raid items players will still need to have killed the associated boss on Mythic difficulty at least once; for Mythic+ items they must have completed the dungeon on keystone level of 12 or higher. The Heroic track versions of the items require that you have beaten the boss on Normal difficulty or higher. Available items will be Trinkets, Weapons, and “Cantrip” items — armor pieces with additional effects, such as the boots that drop from the Soulhunter fight.

Additional Turbo Boosts players now receive are:

  • Valorstones are tradable among your Warband characters again, likely with the same transfer penalty.
  • Removal of all PVE Crest caps.
  • Warband-Until-Equipped items drop at a higher rate in Mythic+ and the Manaforge Omega raid.
  • New to Turbo Boost will be the introduction of Ethereal Voidsplinter drops (may be earned in Mythic+ dungeons, Manaforge Omega, Delves, and rated PvP) to fuel the Catalyst. Players will no longer be restricted to one Catalyst charge every two weeks, although it’s currently unknown if there will be any weekly limitations on the drops — or what the drop rate is.
  • Also new will be Untainted Mana Crystals that can be found in Bountiful Coffers at Tier 9 and higher. This currency can be traded with Zah’ran at the end of the Delve for Hero track trinkets.
  • Boosts to Delve journey and Brann experience with progress earned significantly increased from Bountiful Coffers, Nemesis Strongboxes and for completing the Delve.
  • Tier 9 and above Delves can now drop Warbound equipment that are 1/8 on the Champion upgrade track.

These now join with the Turbo Boosts that took effect with the release of patch 11.2.5:

  • Heroic and Mythic track gear will be able to be upgraded two more ranks, from six to eight. This will allow Heroic gear to be upgraded to ilevel 717 and Mythic gear can now max out at ilevel 730.
  • Crafted items can be recrafted and gain 3 or 6 more ilevels with Augmentation Matrices.

While this will allow players to increase their gear’s power they will still need the required Gilded Crests and Valorstones to upgrade the non-crafted gear, and crafted gear will need the normal components for recrafting.
