The Queue: Welcome to fall!

It’s officially fall as of today! The best season, for any number of reasons, but mainly because I can wear lots of nice, thick sweaters.

It has nothing to do with my birthday sneaking up on me in less than a month. Nope, not one thing.

Halloween is pretty great too!

While I go and frown at the unseasonably warm temperatures we’re having, it’s time for — The Queue!

AND ALL I AM IS A RETPALLYJIL I WANT THE WORLD IN MY HANDS

Q4tQ: If you’ve played D&D, which editions have you tried
Which is your favorite?
Which game setting is your favorite?

For me
AD&D1 AD&D2 3/3.5
3/3.5
Greyhawk

I have! It’s been a minute since I did it consistently, but I’ve played in games here and there over the years. One of which was for this very website’s podcast! I’ve played 3.5, 4th, and 5th edition D&D, and a couple of other systems for the one-shots we did for Tavern Watch. I think I liked the fifth edition the best; it felt the most streamlined. I can see how some fans of the more granular settings could feel like something is missing there.

That was also how I felt with the game Avowed over Skyrim. I didn’t hate it, though. A nice smooth ride can be fun, throw in some twisty turns and some hills, and you’ve got a great time. Not everything has to be performing wheel repairs while you’re driving a mountain trail in your jeep.

We played a Mass Effect one-shot once, and that’s cheating because I already love Mass Effect. Otherwise, I like the main Faerun setting. I never really got into Dragonlance, so I don’t have any attachment there. I do have a history of reading a lot of the Forgotten Realms books, though, and so I come by my love of the setting honestly. Thanks, RA Salvatore!

HEAD IN THE CLOUDS BUT MY SJHAWK CENTERED

What is your best pulling victory from defeat moment?

It was way way back in Cataclysm, my guild was progressing on Hagara the Stormbinder, and I was still a Holy Paladin. After a long night of attempts, we finally had the pull where most things were going right, except for a couple of early DPS losses. Which meant that we bumped into her enrage timer. Luckily she doesn’t just insta-wipe the raid, but unlucky for our tanks, there’s not a lot to be done there to keep them alive. What I was able to do, though, was taunt Hagara and pop my Charger and pull her as far away from the pile of DPS as possible so that we had the time necessary to finish burning her down. We won the day, and got to move onto everyone’s favorite giant purple dragon — Ultraxion.

‘CAUSE IT’S TOO COLD FOR RED HERE

Q4Cory: if you had the opportunity to see and take pictures of an exotic animal (like a rhino) in an unexpected place (like a gas station), what would you choose?

I want to see an Orangutan working as a slide attendant at a water park. They’ve got the right laid-back vibes to make them the perfect slide guards! Maybe they’ll let you bend the rules a bit. Haven’t you always wanted to go down on your stomach? Just bring a nice mango along with you, and surely the lifeguard orangutan will oblige.

I’ve heard before that some cultures believe that orangutans can talk, but that they choose not to, because if humans found out — they’d make them do work. Which, yeah, I get it. If not talking got me out of work, I think I could make that happen.

RETPALLYJIL AND NOW, SO LET ME HOLD BOTH YOUR HANDS IN THE HOLES OF MY SWEATER

Q4tQ: Staying on topic with my earlier post – which main faction do you think has the best coat of arms?

Gotta be the Undead. I just love the cracked mask in the middle for having top spooky aesthetic. I want to like the Troll one more, but it’s too haphazard-looking. Orc wins for functional, while Blood Elf wins for shiny. Night Elf is my favorite from the Alliance side of the equation, as the glaive is such a great fantasy weapon. I like the more plain human shield and swords more than the extra gold big eagles version.

KALCHEUS AND IF I MAY JUST TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY I DON’T MIND IF THERE’S NOT MUCH TO SAY

Q4tQ Will I remember to log in and buy the new Blahaj hat?

This is so far past the time you’d be able to buy this fancy hat for Pirates Day that I hope you did. However, I know how I could be with things like this, and despite the fact that it would probably take just five minutes in-game, there are so many times I’ve missed out on things by just putting them off or getting distracted by other things.

You should’ve done it right when you were pondering the question! Other responsibilities be damned. Remote access to your desktop, or talk Marshmallow through logging into your account and guiding a character to Booty Bay for it. Odds are good that you could make that happen! Odds are also good that you’d come back to a bag that was full of bones, though, so it really is taking your (virtual) life into your hands there.

Here’s Bacardi being just super happy to have some nice ice cream. It’s not something he gets all the time, and he was very interested as soon as I put that lid down in front of him. Hopefully this means you get something nice in your vaults that you don’t get all of the time as well!
