The Queue: Brew a barrel roll!

Ah Brewfest, the most wonderful time of the year! There is no event in WoW I enjoy more, and there are a lot of fun new additions this year (although I will miss Barking for the Thunderbrews). Of course there’s only so many times I can run the new Banquet scenario or race rams so I’m going to take a break to answer some questions!

FUZZYBUNNY ORDERS AN ANCESTRAL ALE

Do you have a chance at the Keg mount once a day or is it that the greater chance is the first dungeon run once a day with a lesser chance at later runs?

According to the official post you only have one chance a day (technically per daily reset). I have seen a couple comments that suggest you may have a low chance on subsequent runs like with the Heartbreaker but at this point those feel more likely to be mistakes. Fortunately it should have Bad Luck Protection so most players can expect to get the Brewfest Bomber before Brewfest ends.

THOMAS STRANGE IS HAVING HIS SECOND DISTILLED NIGHTWINE OF THE EVENING

Q4tQ: Do you think Blizzard will ever do anything with Starcraft again? I’ve never played it, kind of only know it from memes (and talking to you guys), but it still seems weirdly popular.

Yes and for one very simple reason: money. A StarCraft 3 announcement or the resurrection of Ghost would result in a ton of excitement and preorders; I would question why Microsoft even bothered buying Blizzard if they weren’t going to leverage the popularly of the franchise.

The question of course is whether it’ll happen any time soon; game development timelines have gotten a lot longer than they were a decade ago and there seems to be industry uncertainty as to whether AAA titles should be announced early or when they’re close to completion. BlizzCon is returning next year however…

HIGH DENSITY WAFFLE COULD REALLY GO FOR A HIGHMOUNTAIN TISWIN

You ever almost lose a finger?

The closest I’ve come to losing a finger is when I was chopping up onions and took off the tip of my thumb. Oddly enough I did not break the skin although it bled so badly and wouldn’t stop so I went to the ER where they were finally able to get the bleeding under control. It was a weird experience watching blood seep through skin and I hope to never experience it again.

RED IS CHOWING DOWN ON REDRIDGE ROQUEFORT WHILE SIPPING A THUNDERBREW STOUT

Q4TQ: What’s your favorite kind of narrative in games? Epic, fantasy, sci-fi, political intrigue, time travel, horror, comedy, cyberpunk, mecha, daily life, supernatural, etc.? (feel free to pick multiple)

I try to be flexible on narrative genres because you never know what aspect of a story could end up appealing to you; I never would’ve expected a daily life/modern game franchise to become one of my favorites but I’m completely hooked on Persona.

Ultimately though Fantasy is my jam and a solid majority of the games I play have those setting elements. I think the real world is cool and all but I like how experimental/what-if-y fantasy gets.

LIZ LIKES TO PAIR THE GOLDEN LINK WITH MAG’HAR GRAINBREAD

What is your favorite new reward from Brewfest?

While I really like the Brewer’s outfits — kilts! sporran! — for letting me fulfill the urge to play a highlander, the Dark Iron recolor of the Ceremonial Collection is fantastic. My only criticism is that it looks designed solely for plate classes but that’s been pretty much true of all the Dwarf-related outfits so I’m used to that. Haven’t decided which of my characters is going to actively wear it; probably my Dark Iron Warrior.

BRAINSTRAIN GOT THE CRAVING FOR SOME ESSENTIAL BREWFEST PRETZELS

What expansion would you be least excited to see get the Remix treatment?

Burning Crusade. Frankly questing is a mess and a lot of the dungeons/raids are uninspired or annoying. Plus they’ve “adjusted” a lot of the story around Illidan and the Black Temple raid doesn’t make sense in the context of those changes.

If they completely revamped Outland for Remix it might be fun but as it stands now it’s the last xpac I’d want to see again.

ARTHONOS THINKS DALARAN SHARP IS THE BEST FOOD ITEM IN THE GAME

Inspired by all the villain forms in Fire Emblem Shadows, which were-form would you pick between the following: wolf, rino, bull, panther, raven, dragon, bear, or fox?

Bear! I like bears. They’re cute and cuddly and are encouraged to get fat and sleep for months at a time. I would live my best bear life eating berries and salmon and climbing trees and gallivanting around the forest.

From a were- perspective I’ve always liked ursine-inspired races in fictional settings. A large part of the joy of the Guild Wars 2 expansion Janthir Wilds was the opportunity to hang out with the Kodan again. I wish Furbolgs were more beary.

XERIANNE HAS PUT IN AN ORDER FOR SPICED ONION CHEESE (I SWEAR I DIDN’T MAKE IT — THERE IS NO THUMB IN IT)

So with transmog options per character do you ever think “too cliche” and change it or no, bring on the cliche?

I dunno about cliche but I do have a tendency to use full sets rather than trying to mix and match. A large part of that is colors not quite matching really annoy me — I’d rather have clashing colors than two blues that aren’t quite the same shade. Consider the screenshot at the end of the queue: the tabard not exactly matching the armor set is probably fine for most people but I wouldn’t be able to stay transmogged in it for very long. Complete armor sets tend to use the same palette for every piece so I can avoid the chromatic uncanny valley.

MUSEDMOOSE MUST BE ON A SHIP BECAUSE HE’S DRINKING GORDOK GROG

What have I missed over the past week? I’ve been on a boat.

The past week? Lemme check:

-Metaphor: ReFantazio won the Grand Prize at the Japan Game Awards

-Fat Bear Week is running

-Red discovered and shared a new jazzy but not too jazzy artist

-A new mobile Fire Emblem game dropped completely out of nowhere

-There was a Rapture maybe

Also I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but Brewfest has started!

That’s all the space and time and kegs we have for today’s queue. I hope everybody has a fantastic weekend be sure to drink plenty of water and get lots of rest. And ask Cory questions!
