Trust us — you should play Druid this week to start Diablo 4 Season 10

The new Diablo 4  season is here, and most content creators are out there pushing tier lists and using silly things like numbers and data to influence your class choice — with good reason. As a devout Necromancer player (with a Spiritborn detour), I didn’t think I would embrace the shapeshifting life so easily, but my mind is changed! Instead, we’re going to discuss five reasons why you should consider playing Druid in Diablo 4 Season 10.

First up — you’re going to feel a little slow for the first, say, 15-25 levels. This varies based on your gear drops and aspects acquired, as well as how quickly you unlock your Spirit Boons. Afterwards, things start to speed up significantly! With a Pulverize build on Normal, I was regularly one-shotting not only trash but some Helltide elites well before 60. Between the damage output and the near-constant Fortify, I felt unstoppable.

The seasonal power system — Chaos Perks — aligns really well with the Druid. Spirit generation is always a consideration for Druid builds. Some of the early perks earned by making your way through the Seasonal story quests (such as Invigorating Attacks and Overabundance) both ease the Spirit burden and reward you for spending and generating pretty significantly. Combine with the right Runes (like Lum) and your DPS output becomes a lot more consistent.

Speaking of builds, the number of viable Druid builds for leveling and pushing has increased over the past few seasons. Companion Druid jumped up the ranks with the broader pet buffs in recent seasons, and the Druid’s new Kilt of Blackwing unique is designed specifically to highlight the Ravens in your build. All builds leveraging the Grizzly Rage will benefit strongly from its multipliers and kill-lengthening benefits — the constant flow of demons in both Infernal Hordes and Chaos Rifts (Nightmare Dungeons and Helltide alike) results in effectively 100% uptime for the ultimate. Even Werewolf Shred builds are equipping Grizzly Rage with the Toxic Claws passive and Aspects of the Rabid Bear and Rampaging Werebeast equipped.

Finally — it’s Fat Bear Week. Is there a better way to celebrate than by shouting “Fat Bear Fat Bear FAT BEAR” every time you hit Grizzly Rage? I think not.

Now, to balance it out with some downsides — the Druid may not be for you if you don’t like slow movement, because some builds are wholly dependent on gear for movement speed increases. Those first levels are going to absolutely crawl, especially for someone used to early power increases (like Necromancer players). Finally, you’ll be pretty frustrated if you hate strongholds, as you can’t access the Druid Spirit Boon questline without unlocking Tur Dulra.

All in all, the Druid is a wildly fun experience. Just playing after work for the last two days, I’ve hit max level, opened up my second paragon board, completed the first three chapters of the season’s journey, and spent all of half an hour playing Torment 1 before skipping into Torment 2 (without any uniques equipped at the time). The power is just absolutely wild, especially for someone who played every class early on and decided the Druid was “just too slow.” So embrace the werebeast chaos by playing Druid in Diablo 4 Season 10!
