The Queue: The Life of a Queueboy

It’s been five years since I started writing for Blizzard Watch! I was so young back then! Well actually no I was old back then too — but I was younger! To quote They Might Be Giants: I was young and foolish then/I feel old and foolish now.

Dang, that’s a horrible intro. You’d think I’d have the hang of this writing thing after five years.

Of course the big news is all the Midnight info that’s been coming out this week, but we also got a new album from Rachael Yamagata today! Fun fact: she’s half-sister to Josh Ruben of Dropout/Make Some Noise fame. I’m not aware of any other albums being released today.

While I patiently wait by the mailbox for my celebratory 5-year Blizzard Watch sword let’s answer some questions!

Harvest Festival in my opinion should be a way bigger deal than it is. I even wrote about it once! Alas it’s the middle child of WoW Holidays between Brewfest and Hallow’s End, or like Thanksgiving in the US. That reminds me when is Canadian Thanksgiving?

The Arcan’dor has an apostrophe in its name and by the rules of fantasy writing that means it’s more powerful than the Arcantina. Of course the real place we’re all waiting for is the Arcopacabana — I hear it’s the hottest spot south of Azsuna!

(I know, Azsuna isn’t actually all that hot but there’s a paucity of WoW place names that end with -na.)

I’m going to switch one of my two DHs to Devourer once available; I don’t tank so having a new DPS spec will help me distinguish between the two. Haven’t decided whether it’s going to be my NElf or my forthcoming BElf (leveling her in ReLegion) that will be Devourer but I’m leaning towards the NElf.

Not going to play VElf DH though; my main for Midnight is a VElf and I don’t want to spend money race-changing my NElf to VElf.

I have an open slot in my character spreadsheet for a Horde Druid so I’m going to use my level 80 boost that comes with Midnight to make a Haranir Druid. Since my Alliance Druid is Feral I’ll like make the Haranir a Hootperson.

There’s also always the possibility of the “we’re going back in time to temporarily borrow something” like we did in the Well of Eternity dungeon back in Cataclysm. Wouldn’t it be awesome to go back to the War of the Three Hammers and steal Knaifu from Modgud?

Not the Rays unfortunately. If I had to guess it’s going to be Dodgers vs Blue Jays but that’s just a guess. I do think Tigers vs Cubs would cause the most intra-queuevian fighting though.

The class reworks. I’m kinda surprised how much of an effort they’re making to retool the classes so I’m going to be spending a ton of time trying out the new playstyles of the three Hunter specs. I will probably still end up going Marksman for Midnight.

My biggest fear with housing is that other architecture will go the way of the Pandaren Heritage Armor (although maybe it’s in 11.2.7?) or the Brawler’s Guild (although maybe that’s back in Midnight?). Fortunately if we do get more options the Dwarf style is probably first in line on the Alliance side but the fear is still there.

The Death Knight class campaign is by far the best one in Legion. Like when I rank them I put DK at #1 and then don’t even bother putting any others in #2 through #5 because none of the other ones compare. If only leveling one character I would definitely choose DK.

While we wait for those who expected me to say BM Hunter to recover I will say that I did enjoy the Hunter campaign even if it turns into a Mage campaign for awhile. The post-release content for the Hunter campaign is especially good even if it doesn’t reach the levels of DK.

Probably the primary characteristic I’m looking for in a Waifu or One True Pairing candidate is that they’re strong/self-confident but not infallible. I don’t see vulnerability as a weakness but too often it’s considered that so creators will go out of their way to make a strong character (especially female) “perfect”. Give me moments of doubts or even setbacks that they face and overcome.

Also the willingness to show off some funky dance moves when required to.
