A look at the housing plots of Razorwind Shores

If you’re like us, some of the most exciting news to come out of the Midnight alpha is, of course, the arrival of player housing in World of Warcraft. When it was announced that the Horde neighborhood, Razorwind Shores, would primarily be themed after Durotar, there was some apprehension — the zone that houses Orgrimmar isn’t exactly known for its scenery. However, there’s more to it than just desert (although there is a little bit of that) — Razorwind Shores pulls in lots of Horde-flavored Kalimdor zone flavors, from the fall foliage of Azshara to the palm trees of other parts of Kalimdor, and even bits that honestly remind me of the open plains of the Barrens. Also, if you like shipwrecks, there is a plot here that is absolutely for you.

You can click on any of the images below to open it up in a larger size, letting you really give it a good look and deciding if it’s where you want to put down roots or if you need just a little bit different scenery outside. Note that despite how some of them may look, all of these plots are exactly the same size — some have more space outside their property, however, or interesting features outside the plot itself that might make you want to click that “Buy” button to move in.

Want to see the Alliance neighborhood, Founder’s Point? We have a rundown of that too.

Also, if the order of these seems a little jumbled: the housing plot numbering system has absolutely nothing to do with the location of the plot on the island. Determined staff screenshotter Elizabeth Harper started off in the top left and worked her way south and east while taking these shots on the alpha, marveling at the random numbers along the way.

Plot #2 is a solitary plot, with great extras: a small boardwalk adjacent has seating and food sitting out. there’s a dock on the opposite side of the river (no other houses or anything else in this direction) and a rope swing hanging from a tree.

Plot #9 is tucked into a nook with its very own waterfall; feels private but is actually within eyesight of #28.

Plot #28 feels like it’s out in the open, but the only nearby house is #9.

Plot #33 is lush and green, just off the beach. There’s a small public building behind it with a fire outside, but you can’t go in. This house is in loose cluster of houses with #11 and #17.

Plot #11 is basically beachfront, with some lovely palm trees, in a loose cluster of three houses (#33, #11, #17) on this bit of land.

Plot #17 is a great example of the tropical feel of many of Razorwind’s houses; it’s a bit further away from the other two houses in its cluster and and right on the water. The island in the distance is public space with pavilions, tables, and a tiki bar.

Plot #26 is across a stream from the prior cluster of houses on the western edge of the neighborhood. equally close to the island seen from 17. A path around the side of the cliff leads to a cave full of definitely legitimate businesspeople moving crates. one of whom is a decor vendor.

Plot #25 is across the river and a bit down from #2; neighbor to #36. It has its own little bit of boardwalk and a short walk to a dock. Stairs near the house lead up to a tower (empty, but you can climb to the top and look out) and some other public spaces.

Plot #36 is neighbor to #25, perched on an outcropping overlooking streams and rock formationss. This and #25 are both pretty isolated from other houses.

Plot #41 is kind of in the middle of the beachy section of the neighborhood, with waterfalls and red cliffs to one side, and beach to the other. Just down the road is a kodo ranch and some farmland.

Plot #27 is some primo land: a home perched at the top of a very tall rock formation all by itself, with wooden balconies on two sides and a bridge down to #30. High elevation and fantastic views.

Plot #30 is another home perched on top of its own rock formation, with wooden balconies on three sides, three bridges connecting it to other rock formations — shades of Tauren architecture, maybe? — and a path to a boardwalk by the water. A public tower sits next to it; you can go inside and climb to the top but nothing is there. Views aren’t quite as good as #27, but maybe a good runner-up.

Plot #43 is across the bridge from #30, perched on top of a rock formation next to #12. Has a balcony with scenic views of the beach.

Plot #12 is on a rock formation with #43, but higher up — you don’t even see #43 from the house. The balcony overlooks a shipwreck in the water below. Bridges on two sides connect to other outcroppings.

Plot #54 is at the base of the rock formation holding #43 and #12, right on the water. It also overlooks the island mentioned in #17, and a path leads down the beach towards the shipwreck.

Plot #24 is amazing, and this author’s personal favorite spot in Razorwind; this isolated bit of beachfront has its own shipwreck and giant rib cage. Quite isolated, at the end of a long, narrow path down from #32.

Plot #32 is set a ways back from the beach, below the rock outcroppings holding previously mentioned houses. near several balconies over the water as well as a fishing shack with a shark hanging out front and lots of NPCs fishing. Perfect for the consummate angler.

Plot #22 is another house on top of a rock formation, with a balcony and flightmaster on one side and climbable observation tower on the other.

Plot #49 is just past #22, adjacent to the same tower and with its own balcony on the edge of the cliff. The balcony has a diving board which is flanked by three signs with a skull and crossbones. It’s technically above #37, but you can’t really see one from the other.

Plot #37 at the base of the cliff holding 49, but pretty isolated on its own little plot of beach. An oceanfront dock is at the end of a short path down from the house. across the water from #19.

Plot #19 is on an island by itself, with a pavilion and small dock, across from #37. Buildings on the island are public space; you can go inside one building but there’s nothing there yet.

Plot #51 is another house on an island by itself, inland from #19.

Plot #7 is another island home, this time on a larger island next to #51.

Plot #6 is back on the mainland, but adjacent to the island holding #51. It’s across the water from the fishing shack, and has a small dock and several turtles.

Plot #3 is waterfront, but a bit back from the beach. Perfect if you want some scenic rocks with your beach views.

Plot #5 is adjacent to #3, but there’s a rock arch between them and you can’t really see one from the other.

Plot #1 is in between #5 and #13, with its own small boardwalk.

Plot #13 is adjacent to 1, with its own dock. It’s also next to a boardwalk with pavilions and vendors, across from a bit of beach where two named goblins sit in sun chairs with drinks and a flamingo floatie.

Plot #14 is adjacent to #8, across from a large public island with several buildings, a tower, a large dock, and some named NPCs, and immediately in front of an elevated boardwalk with several public buildings behind it; however, you can’t go into any of them at this time.

Plot #8 sits on a ledge above #14, with a large balcony behind the house with stairs down to a very tiny, very private section of beach — complete with a surfboard propped up.

Plot #16 is on the border of the Azshara area. The building in front of it is a public building of uncertain purpose, and the house is around the corner from the Common, the center of town full of buildings and NPCs.

Plot #47 just down the hill from 16, and also around the corner from the Common. This is the plot for cacti. Just look at ’em. Galgar would be jumping at the chance to claim this one, if they ever let him out of the Valley of Trials.

Plot #34 stars even more cacti, but is a little less isolated, being neighbors with #10.

Plot #10 has cacti and cool rock formations, and views of some nice greenergy in the distance. It’s next to a small pavilion with a bonfire, and neighbors with #34.

Plot #48 is up the hill from #10, with a good view of the neighborhood.

Plot #29 is adjacent to a hot spring with geysers and waterfalls. Pavilions and walkways line the water, and there’s even a diving board! On the other side of the house is another small, bubbling pool that’s closer than the larger springs.

Plot #40 is adjacent to #29 and the hot springs, which are directly off the edge of this plot. A rock outcropping gives the plot something of a balcony over a waterfall.

Plot #4 is the first home in the Azshara-styled region, neighbor to #21. I’m also getting something of a Grizzly Hills or Stormheim vibe off of some of these; it’s all the fall colors, really.

Plot #21 is waterfall city. Neighbor to #4. and honestly just a really nice place to live. If you’re an Alliance player living in Razorwind Shores, you might want to scoop this plot up.

Plot #53 sits on a cliff above three waterfalls, with ocean views to the opposite side. It’s also adjacent to a little outdoor public space tavern, with buffet tables full of food, tapped kegs, and several outdoor tables to eat or drink at. Your closest neighbor is #52.

Plot #52 is adjacent to its own beautiful waterfall, with a cliffside balcony strung with lights overlooking the ocean.

Plot #20 sits inland; it has a wooden balcony on one side and a path up to a flight master on the other.

Plot #45 is surrounded by so many trees it’s hard to photograph — perfect for the hermit in you. It’s adjacent to one of those observation towers, and a pavilion is across the stream from the house, right at the top of a cliff.

Plot #44 is across the road from an encampment of some kind — maybe a construction site? — with a lit boardwalk with tables and an outdoor shop of some kind.

Plot #31 is across the water from the encampment listed in #44, directly across from the boardwalk.

Plot #46 is maximum waterfall views — just look at it! It’s across a bridge and up a hill from the previously mentioned encampment, and also has a path to a more private dock and pavilion at the water’s edge.

Plot #15 feels isolated, nestled into the cliff’s edge such as it is, but is actually just across the river from #23.

Plot #23 has no many picturesque streams and waterfalls that we’re running out of things to say about them. It sits in a little cluster with #38, #35, and #42.

Plot #38 is adjacent to a small camp that appears to have bathtubs lined up on the cliff’s edge. Is this a spa? Whatever it is, you share it with your neighbors at #23, #35, and #42.

Plot #35 is just you and that big open sky… and your neighbors at #23, #38, and #42.

Plot #42 brings us back to more waterfalls! It’s the last in a cluster with #23, #38, and #35.

Plot #39 is the most isolated house in the neighborhood by far. A narrow path behind the house leads to a very private balcony strung with lights that looks down on the ocean.

Plot #0 is just an unassuming little plot tucked away off the road, adjacent to a tower.

Plot #18 is in a cluster with #9 and #28, offering more greenery than those two spots.

Plot #50 is last but certainly not least; a bit back from the beach, but still surrounded by water

So that’s Razorwind Shores! Which part of this mostly-tropical paradise tickles your fancy, if any?
