How are you liking Legion: Remix?

We are a few weeks into the run of Legion: Remix, and reactions seem to be mostly positive. The second phase, Rise of the Nightfallen, is now active — so what are your impressions?

I am still rolling towards max level on my first Timerunner, an Unholy Death Knight. I wanted to pick a spec that I had never tried before, and that turned out to be a good call because I am thoroughly enjoying my time questing through Stormheim while slinging diseases at enemies like they’re Frostbolts. For me, the feeling of nostalgia mixed with a great choice of expansion is hitting much the same way that Mists of Pandaria: Remix did.

Of course, the true motivation for anything I do in World of Warcraft is the cosmetics and collectibles, and Legion: Remix is no different. Every time I return to the Infinite Bazaar I seem to have earned enough Bronze to pick one more item. I may have spent more time shopping than questing so far.

One of my worries was that another Remix barely one year after Pandaria would feel a little less unique, and I would lose interest before I even reached max level. The new additions to this iteration have really shined and kept me engaged. When I first read about the Heroic World Tier setting, I assumed that it wouldn’t be for me,  but leveling with it turned on has been just enough of a challenge to keep me hooked.

The new Infinite Research and Infinite Power mechanics have also been wins in my book. Being able to earn random bonus stuff while leveling is always great, and a novel approach to our Artifact Weapons gaining abilities has been cool to see in action.

Not everything has been perfect in the game mode. I was confused and annoyed after hitting level 70, where the game shifted from “engagingly challenging” to “goats now kill you even after you blow all of your cooldowns”. The twenty years of code involved in leveling a character is complicated, I’m sure, but it was still very jarring to hit a milestone and suddenly be stuck in a Catch-22 of needing better gear without being able to complete a quest.

I turned to the Group Finder at that point, and that’s the other negative note that I have. I appreciate the easy dungeons clears in a way, but in another way it’s not very fun to watch an insanely overpowered Demon Hunter fly off into the distance and not even be able to make it to the first boss before the whole instance is cleared.

So what are your thoughts on Legion: Remix? Has it been what you hoped for?
