The Queue: It’s always nap time somewhere
But you can’t nap while waiting in the queue, because you might miss it. So let’s get to the questions… we can take the perfect cat nap later.
Do you believe we’ll have Midnight by January 27th as WoWhead claims?
Let’s start by clarifying: Wowhead and MMO-Champion are both saying that the Midnight pre-patch will launch on January 27 due to a splash screen in the new alpha build. And while I think an expansion launch on the 27th is an outlandish suggestion, a pre-patch launch is plausible… though I personally would have thought it would be more likely early February.
Our current guess, based on the roadmap and typical patch cadence, is that Midnight will launch on February 24, 2026. That would put this pre-patch about a month out from launch, which is the same timing as what we saw for The War Within and Dragonflight. So I think that late January pre-patch date is a near-certainty.
Do you think voidwalkers are a solid, or do you think it would be possible lorewise to stick a straw through a voidwalker and drink up pure shadow?
Voidwalkers can hit things and cause them injury, and therefore I judge them to be corporeal. Of course you could stick a straw in a corporeal being if you used sufficient force, but it’s very rude to do (without consent) and I assume it would make the Voidwalker and its friends angry with you, which could result in other problems.
In conclusion, I would say that you might be able to stick a straw in a Voidwalker for a sip of shadow, but you really need to get its permission first.
Q4TQ: Why do you think Blizzard chose to lock LFR completely out of the puzzling cartel chip system this season but didn’t last season?
I think this was a real mistake on Blizzard’s part. We’re extremely late in Season 3, to the point where my quite casual heroic guild finished the raid before cartel chips even got here (and were geared up weeks ago). If this is meant to be a late-season boost for players trying to get that last push to finish content, it’s too late to help a whole lot of them. And the players it could help reach their goals and improve their gear are more likely to be more casual players running LFR.
Because you can’t get chips from LFR, the system is useless to casual players, but it’s also not very useful to the mid-range and high-range players who have already finished the content. So who is this for? It feels like at this point there’s only going to be a small percentage of the player base trying to do M+, and normal/heroic/mythic raiding that still needs gear. My friends are all using it to get transmog appearances, and I might pick up a trinket for an off-spec. But there’s nothing I really need this late in the season, and this system can’t help a lot of people who might really get something out of a late-season ilevel boost. That’s a shame.
So I think either this needed to launch earlier or it needed to include LFR or it needed both. It’s nice to have turbo boost, but it feels like it’s doing so little this time around. Hopefully Blizzard will reconsider the next time turbo boost comes around.
Q4Liz: Have you been playing ReLegion? If so, how has your experience been?
I have one character at level 25 in Remix, which probably answers your question.
It’s not that I’m avoiding it so much as it’s hard to find the time! I need to collect all of this transmog and it’s clearly going to take a lot of work to get it… but for now I’ve made little progress, and The Outer Worlds 2 is coming out this week, and there are any number of things that will gobble up my time.
I’ll get there. I hope.
Q4tQ Is it nap time yet?
It’s always naptime somewhere, and here is always a somewhere to be, ergo it is always naptime if you have the will to say it’s naptime.
That’s all I have for you today dear Queue. Take care of yourselves and I’ll see you in the comments section.
