The Queue: I can’t resist game sales
Sometimes I get smug because I don’t have a ton of unplayed games on Steam, because I can be thoughtlessly hypocritical. So now I’m suffering for my thoughtlessness, as GOG had a big sale on games which meant that I could pick up Neverwinter Nights and a ton of DLC for it for under $10 Canadian.
Did I need to buy it? No. I’m not even playing it — The Outer Worlds 2 is out on Game Pass, and I have to justify that $30 price tag. But getting the entire Enhanced Edition for ten bucks? Even though I’ve got like 37 games I don’t play and in fact don’t even have installed, it felt impossible to pass it up.
Yeah, I know. I’m a sucker.
QftQ: Y’all think we’re going to see Dagran much in Midnight?
Honestly I’m terrified they’ll have Moira die to give Dagran a traumatic backstory (I know his dad’s dead but Dagran never actually knew his dad and Blizzard is second only to Disney in terms of killing mothers to inflict trauma on their kids) so I dearly hope we don’t see either of them in Midnight.
This isn’t me saying I don’t like the little guy. If I could just get some kind of reassurance that Moira won’t get slabbed so that Dagran has a reason to be angsty, I’d be thrilled to see him pop up in Midnight.
Q4tQ: do you ever switch between game inputs based on what part of the game you’re doing? Because for reasons too boring to get into, I’m swapping between controller and keyboard when playing Dispatch. I’ve never done this before and it feels weird, but it works.
Yeah, I do that a lot. Sometimes I do that repeatedly during a game, sometimes I only do it once or for specific reasons For example, I’d probably switch to controller when I play Wrath of the Righteous whenever I do Crusade mode but I have to actually unplug the controller to get the keyboard to work.
Why do I do this? Because sometimes I prefer being able to play the game with only a few fingers. My neuropathy is bad enough that I often make bad keystrokes — typos in my writing, hitting the wrong ability on my keybinds. It’s just easier sometimes to use the controller.
Oooooh Timberborn is getting ready for 1.0 release soonish.
In case you’re wondering what Timberborn is, it’s a fun concept — a world where Humans no longer exist and sapient Beavers are creating complex cities and towns made out of wood — a game that unabashedly calls itself lumberpunk. It’s been in Early Access for the past four years. Kalecgos… I mean, Kalcheus even covered it four years ag0, as he mention in the comments yesterday.
Its a fun concept and even though I’m not a huge fan of city builders, I may just give this one a shot.
i have never been declined from a group or kicked because of being too high ilevel/power, and it just happend twice in a row just signing up for a basic mythic dungeon in remix just to get the achievement out of the way in remix
Humans never stop surprising me with just how petty they can get over things like item level and I have to say, ditching someone because they’re too well geared is a fascinating new take on pettiness.
Q4TQ: has enough time passed that Portal “The Cake is a Lie” and “this was a triumph, I’m making a note here, huge success” references are funny again?
I didn’t really find them funny the first time, so I’m not a good judge on this.
I know this is very likely common knowledge, but if anyone wants to play Outer Worlds 2, it’s on the Bnet launcher, and can be played with Game Pass. I know GP is rather expensive, but still neat to have as an option. :D
I knew it was on Game Pass, but I didn’t know it was on the Bnet launcher. That’s kind of crazy. So far I’m enjoying it, and man, it really preserves the violently anti-capitalist tendencies of its predecessor.
I think I’ve reached the point where I need to uninstall Balatro. Right now the only goal I’m interested in is an unseeded naneinf run and unsuccessful runs can take hours so there’s a lot being wasted on what’s frankly an unnecessary challenge for me to overcome.
I’m glad you aren’t still playing it, because it’s downloading a powerful mind-alteration equation into your mind. Have you seen any faces floating on walls? Any leering grins in the patterns of a wall?” Be careful.
That’s the Queue for this Thursday, and y’all, I’m so tired.
