The Queue: Beep, boop

I’m not actually a robot, but sometimes I play one on TV. You know how it goes…. some days you’re lagging and you feel a little more like a robot. (Or sound a little more like a robot, when you’re chatting in Discord.) We just have to roll through those days (not on wheels, but on definitely totally normal human legs) and keep going.

So beep boop everybody. Let’s Queue on this lovely Wednesday afternoon.

MUSEDMOOSE ASKED:

Late Q4tQ: with the new capacity to have transmog sets that change based on where you are in-game, what do you think of a boss changing your transmog? How would you feel if you were in the middle of a fight and then suddenly you’re wearing your comfy house outfit, or worse, a TBC clown suit?

I kind of agree with Telwar’s comment: Okay, calm down, Satan.

Because looking good makes you feel good. And feeling good makes you do better damage, or healing, or tanking. You’re comfortable. You’re in your zone. And then the boss puts you in a clown suit. You’re immediately off your game. Your performance falters. Which character on the screen is even you?

And actually I think it’s that last point that is a legitimate gameplay reason for not doing something like this. What your character is wearing is key to identifying them on the screen, and a drastic change in transmog a make them hard to recognize, particularly in a busy setting like a raid encounter. This feels like the sort of thing you could do for low impact encounters or quests, in which you have warning of what to expect (or there are no serious consequences to being surprised), but maybe not in a boss fight.

In short… not today, Satan.

FUZZYBUNNY ASKED:

Do we know if all Epic buyers will get into Beta next Tuesday or will it be staggered?

Everyone with the epic edition should get beta access when it goes live. The only thing I think that might stagger it a bit would be technical, if flagging access on these accounts doesn’t happen all exactly the same second, or if servers have trouble standing up to an initial rush to the beta servers by everyone who’s already pre-ordered. (Hopefully Blizzard is prepared for this, knowing what the pre-purchase numbers are.) We’ll see how things go on Tuesday.

ARTHONOS ASKED:

Q4tQ: Do you rewatch trailers for stuff you are excited about? If so, roughly how many times?

I lean into the never watch trailers camp, because they so frequently spoil things. And the bigger the thing, the more likely it gets a big spoiler-filled Hollywood trailer that gives up everything fun beforehand.

I’m most likely to watch trailers for things I genuinely don’t know about, to find out what they are. Often if it’s something I know I’m interested in, I’ll just wait so I can watch it or play it or whatever.

I have rewatched the Mighty Nein trailer quite a few times, but now I’ve put a moratorium on watching any more trailers: I just want to watch the show.

THOMAS STRANGE SAID:

I am so far behind on everything in Legion Remix! My main character has less than two days played. (My other character must have less than 4 hours, I’ve barely been on them). I realize we have until mid-January to catch up on everything but like… that’s practically next week (based on how quickly the first month has gone by).

You’re doing better than I am; my main character isn’t even level 80 yet.

We have time. There are a lot of things to distract us from Remix and only so many hours in the day. But there’s still time.

And that’s all for today’s Queue everybody. Take care of yourselves and enjoy the downhill stretch of the week. I’ll see you in the comments section.
