The Queue: Why I love The Outer Worlds 2
Because it took the anti-capitalist message of the first game and not only magnified it, but also threw in anti-colonialism, totalitarian regimes, and how the good intentions of someone do not serve to protect people from people who will use their creations with bad intentions. And I’m about half way through the game.
I honestly don’t know where this game will end up in the whole ‘game of the year’ list I’m composing in my head f0r no good reason, but it’s already ahead of Expedition 33.
I wish we had explored the idea of Bolvar having these extremely questionable morals in Shadowlands.
There are always things that get missed or not explored in expansions like that. Like it took what, three expansions to get any kind of closure for the destruction of Teldrassil? Shadowlands in particular felt like it dropped the ball on several possible stories that way. We get tantalizing bits and pieces, but we don’t really get to see things come to their full conclusions.
I mean, Garrosh gets his very soul blown up? What a waste of a complex and interesting character. I wanted to know more about his afterlife, what he thought of it, and potentially could have been interested in him ‘surviving’ and potentially going on to attempt to conquer Maldraxxus or something.
Seeing Bolvar confront how far he’d fallen from the person he’d once been, perhaps while also trying to reconcile with his daughter, could have been some powerful storytelling. It’s a shame we didn’t get to see it.
My view on how Blizzard sets gold prices for buying stuff in game, is based on getting players to buy gold with real money. Players who can make lots of gold in game have no problem with buying whatever they like. Players who can throw money at their monitors can buy whatever they like. The rest of everyone else just has to go without. It’s by no means a fair system. It makes some players feel bad. But that’s the way Blizzard has set it up so they can make real money from selling gold to players.
I am not an economist, of course.
But I feel I have to point out that the reason Blizzard first got into the business of selling in game gold (the WoW Token) was because they were trying to combat things like boosting services, gold farming, accont hacking and so on. People were buying gold for real world money for years before the Token came out, and nothing Blizzard did before the Token did anything to even really slow it down.
The way the T0ken works, it’s basically buying account time for World of Warcraft for about $5 USD more than just buying the time directly. Then, when someone else buys that Token on the AH, they get the account time you paid for and you get the gold they spend on the AH to buy your token. That’s why the gold prices aren’t set — they go up and down based on what people will willingly pay in game gold for said token.
In other words, I have no idea how profitable the Token actually is, but I do believe that the idea that Blizzard is using the Token in a nefarious way as you suggest is a bit overly speculative.
2BE: Elevator Boss vs Accidental Dismount in Mid-Air Boss
Just based on the lethality of the elevator in SSC and Blackwing Descent, I’d have to give this one to the elevator. Sure, I’ve mid air dismounted myself to death a few times, but I died every week to those elevators.
Woah! New Stargate series greenlit at Amazon.
Has a showrunner and producers with tons of experience attached. Which feels like a rarity these days. Cautiously optimistic.
I hope it is good for your sake, but I doubt I’ll be able to get back into it unless at least some of the actors from the original series come back.
Man, I still rewatch the time loop episode sometimes.
I still haven’t finished the K’aresh campaign or unlocked the cloak on my main lmao
Honestly, neither have I, and I think it’s fine. The stuff I did I enjoyed, I just have a lot going on right now. I really feel like WoW is in a good place going into Midnight, I just can really only play a few times a month.
Oh, and yeah, I don’t like the enormous gold sink they’re turning Transmog into, I admit that outright. The prices are crazy high and they need to come down. But I’m not worked up about it yet, because frankly I just don’t have the mental bandwidth to get angry about much of anything right now.

Some thoughts about the new trailer for Vendetta, the Overwatch 2 hero who is basically an Arms Warrior:
- I want that sword model in WoW.
- I want Warriors to be able to use their boat sized swords like shields the way Vendetta does in the cinematic.
- I really wish they’d just make a Single Player game in the Overwatch setting so I could finally play it instead of throwing up with dizziness trying to track all these different people at once.
That’s the Queue for today, y’all. See you next Thursday.
