Hearthstone Battlegrounds season 12 begins December 2! Tavern at the Edge of Time brings the new Timewarped Tavern

Season 12 is coming to Hearthstone Battlegrounds December 2, with the usual card changes and seasonal pass rotation. This season’s theme, Tavern at the Edge of Time, complements the current Hearthstone Constructed expansion theme, Across the Timeways.

Say buh-bye to Buddies and adios to Anomalies. A new, different mechanic is coming for season 12, called the Timewarped Tavern. The Timewarped Tavern sounds somewhat similar to the mechanic behind Trinkets, in that the cards offered are incredibly powerful and come in a “major” and “minor” flavor. The Timewarped Tavern is even paced within the game like Trinkets: on turns 6 and 9, you’re taken to Nozdormu’s Timewarped Tavern, which will offer different, game-swinging cards for a unique currency, Chronum. You get two Chronum to make your choices on those two turns, which expire at the end of the turn like gold, so don’t try to save them. The cards offered within the Timewarped Tavern can let you do things like change your hero power, or get a twist on a classic minion — like the tier 1 Timewarped Dragonling which gives its small stat boost to its neighbors in addition to itself. Note that you can’t use the normal cards to triple the Timewarped cards.

There are two new Heroes you can play this season. Chromie will let you refresh your Timewarped Tavern, which nobody else is allowed to do. There’s also Murozond, who gets to visit the tavern a third time on turn 8, before anyone else.

And, of course, as with every seasonal rotation there is a slew of card changes, and therefore new strategies to explore. My personal favorite is that self-damaging Beast mode seems to be back. Trigore and the Iridescent Skyblazer are back in action.

Also, at long last, I’m happy to report Wrath Weaver is now a Demon, allowing him to use things other than self-harm to collect stats.

There’s an adjustment period just about every season — but you better make those adjustments quick, because this new season is coming in hot!
