And the decorators rejoiced: WoW Player Housing exterior budget raised to 250

When the servers came back up for week two of Player Housing, World of Warcraft interior decorators were pleasantly surprised to find that their exterior decor budget had been increased from 200 to 250 at or above House XP Level 3. The initial rollout of the feature gave the team enough data to be confident that an increase in assets to be loaded in each Neighborhood wouldn’t explode our computers or the servers.

While our first few days in Founder’s Point and Razorwind Shores resulted in a long wish list of features to be added or settings to be tweaked, the limited exterior budget was the most common complaint, preventing players from fulfilling their gardening dreams. While 250 budget points might still not be enough for your most ambitious garden plans, an extra 50 should be enough to work with until Midnight launches and we (hopefully) continue to increase our property’s capacity for stuff. (Exterior lighting fixtures, however, are still not allowed.)

A higher cap on front yard shenanigans will be welcome across the board, whether your housing creations are being featured in Azeroth Real Estate Weekly or you’re more like me and you’ve just been placing a mostly random assortment of interesting disconnected objects around your property. I hit the 200 budget cap just as I was finishing my janky Winter Veil snowman and before I finished stringing up my Schmancy Goblin String Lights, so the higher limit means I won’t have to delete my hot tub in order to finish making my house festive.

The other Player Housing change this week is that the unintentional ability to move your house straight up into the air and leave it there has been formally coded into the game. While this definitely was not intended by the housing team, players were quick to turn their levitating houses into pirate ships, hovering rockets, or gear-legged monstrosities. The team advises players who desire a non-gravitationally-inclined living space to cover the bottom of their houses, as there is no texture on the underside, and remember to provide visitors with a ramp or some other means to access the now-lifted front door.
