Could it be? A normal Tuesday maintenance for World of Warcraft? All servers are currently offline, but should be back soon

I’m suspicious of WoW’s mostly short maintenance cycle this week. We’ve had quite a few lengthy maintenances on the path to patch 11.2.7 and Player Housing, so is it really possible that we’ll have a quick one hour maintenance today? That’s what Blizzard claims (and it’s certainly what I hope).

The War Within and WoW Classic realms are both scheduled for only the usual hour of downtime this week, though Mists of Pandaria Classic is due to be down all day for the rollout phase 3, with Throne of Thunder. But modern WoW has new content this week too, as the final phase of Legion Remix hits the live realms with catchup mechanics (and perhaps some other surprises). It’s a smaller update for Remix, so perhaps that’s why it doesn’t require significant downtime like we’ve seen in past phase. Hopefully the maintenance schedule sticks and we can get back online and decorating soon.

Here’s the WoW maintenance schedule for Tuesday, December 9:

  • The War Within: Offline from 7am – 8am  pacific (10am – 11am eastern)
  • Mists of Pandaria Classic: Offline from 7am – 3pm pacific (10am – ppm eastern)
  • WoW Classic (including Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Anniversary, and Hardcore realms): Offline from 7am – 8am pacific (10am – 11am eastern)

All WoW servers are currently offline.

With the majority of Warcraft realms scheduled to be back online in an hour, many players shouldn’t have long to wait. But if you’re eager to head to the Isle of Thunder in Mists, you should settle in for a wait. Fortunately, the Throne of Thunder patch — originally patch 5.2 — is one of the best updates Blizzard has made, including one of the game’s greatest raids. It will be worth the wait.

In the meanwhile, stay tuned here for updates on maintenance, whether servers come up early or whether maintenance is extended for any realm types. I’ll keep you up to date with any news — but hopefully I’ll be seeing all of you in Azeroth soon.
