Where is the Pit of Artificers in Diablo 4?
The Pit of Artificers was added to Diablo 4 in Season 4 as a timed endgame dungeon activity similar to Diablo 3‘s Greater Rifts. It’s an essential component of post-60 endgame play, representing a challenge with continually scaling difficulty (through 150 tiers) that rewards you for increasing your power even after you’ve hit the max difficulty level. Each floor of a Pit run uses random tilesets; clearing the enemies within the 15-minute timer fills your progress bar, ultimately opening the portal to the boss arena for you to slay.
But where is the entrance to the Pit, and how do you start a pit run?

The Pit’s entrance is found at only one location. Teleport your character to Cerrigar in Scosglen. On the map (shown above), you should see an obelisk icon representing the Artificer’s Obelisk, which will activate a portal to the Pit. At that location in town is a metallic spire (the Artificer’s Obelisk); click to interact, and you receive the prompt to select a Pit tier for your run. Click Open after selecting your tier, and enter the portal — that’s it! And once you’ve cleared that tier, the next three levels above are unlocked for your progression.
Starting with patch 2.5.0, the Pit is available before level 60, with Tier 10 as the base tier unlocked once you’ve completed the level 50 (Rank 2) Capstone Dungeon, Hellish Descent. Players on the Eternal realms will continue to access The Pit after hitting level 60. Similarly, before patch 2.5.0, all level 60 seasonal players had to run the Pit to unlock subsequent Torment tiers; however, that setup has been replaced on Seasonal servers with the return of Capstone dungeons.
For both Eternal and Seasonal, the Pit remains an essential activity for post-60 gameplay, serving as the mechanism for leveling paragon board glyphs. Progress through the tiers in the pursuit of the ultimate power source — a level 100, Legendary paragon glyph. Happy hunting!
