The Queue: The real winner at the Game Awards may have been Battlefield 6
Ok the title is a joke, because as expected Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 absolutely cleaned up at the Game Awards last night taking home Game of the Year and eight other trophies. The one trophy it didn’t take home though? Best Audio Design, which went to Battlefield 6. It’s kind of an odd exclusion because E33 won Best Score and Music, so I’m really curious what Battlefield 6 was able to do in their audio that earned them the reward. I mean not curious enough to actually play it, but still.
So while I mentally recover from all the times I saw “2027” in the show, let’s answer some questions starting with a couple about wood!
I don’t always remember or pay attention to the lore of the Warcraft universe, but I feel like chopping down trees should aggro at least 15 nelfs. At least
They’re too busy running away from the bears they aggro’d when they skinned one of their fallen companions.
… I’ll let you decide what group the “their fallen companions” refers to.
Some of those tailoring recipes are like 40 lumber. 40 TREES for a wall shawl? C’mon now…You want me to get 100 imbued frostweave? Fine. That’s actually…cloth. But where exactly is all that wood going?
I’ve consulted with numerous experts on this, and here’s the breakdown:
15 pieces of lumber are found to be unusable when you get back to the workshop, either termites or rotten wood.
7 pieces of lumber are ground down to wood pulp so you can make paper to draw the plans on.
9 pieces of lumber are for the loom you’re weaving on.
3 pieces of lumber are for loom repairs.
The final 6 pieces of lumber are for the fire keeping you warm even in the summer.
So it all makes perfect sense to me.
Q for the Queue — Does anyone know if there are any troll/Zandalari decor items available in-game? I have some PLANS…
There are several dozen troll items in the Wowdb database, but most of them are going to be behind achievements and vendors that are Horde-only so if you’re unwilling or unable to go that route you’ll probably need to wait until Midnight when the Zul’aman-based decor items should be available to both factions.
Are the Lost Legion Infernals not rewarding enough for people to bother killing them? The day they were out, every spawn had a decent amount of people show up to fight it. Now I may see a couple people try to fight it at most, who eventually give up because it takes so long to kill.
They’re a fun addition in theory, but I feel like the balance between rapid spawn times, effort to kill and the drops is way off.
I killed one, shrugged my shoulders, and then went to do other stuff. I’m not sure if they planned on having them do more and ran out of time to implement it or what but the last phase of ReLegion is a little bit of a bust for me — although I did admittedly enjoy saying my goodbyes as it’s not often that WoW gives us a chance for closure in events. I look forward to seeing those dragons again.
Q4tQ: Charged shot or rapid fire? Personally I’d rather keep spamming weaker fire and take twice as long to kill something over risking it all on a single charged shot that could miss.
Q4tQ: Any plans to attack and annex your neighbor’s housing plot so you have more room to decorate?
What was your favorite music this year? Apparently I spent a lot of time listening to Animal Crossing
Rapid Fire. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy Aimed Shot in my rotation but there’s something more satisfying about a rapid pew-pew-pew.
I deliberately chose the plots furthest away from any neighbors in both neighborhoods and I’m not going to do anything that would get me closer to other people.
According to Spotify my top genre was Lo-Fi Beats, although the soundtrack to the visual novel Please Be Happy was my most-listened to album. I mostly use Spotify as background music, so this tracks.
I should delete like 80% of my characters.
Believe me as a chronic deleter of characters — my alt guild is literally called The Undeleted — I fully understand the impulse. But I was horrified to see how quickly and thoroughly WoW purges deleted characters these days. Unless you’re absolutely sure you’ll never want that character again I think you should just bury them at the bottom of your character list.
People here seem super enthusiastic about player housing, and I assume that adoption rate is high among BW visitors. Have you encountered anyone who still has absolutely no interest in it, even now that it’s out (in early access) and available to play around with? Once it’s fully out and established (I assume there’s some kinks currently) what do you think the overall player adoption rate will end up being? More or less than Pet Battling? Do you think this could be WoW’s most popular feature ever, or will it be more niche, just for the people who are really into home decor and roleplay?
I can’t say for sure because I don’t have access to the internal metrics but if social media is any indication the launch of Housing may be the biggest spike of active players since the release of Legion. While you’re still likely going to have most players doing minimal decorating I feel like the enthusiasm of the big builders is going to trickle down and you’ll see even disinterested players spend some time decorating. I definitely see it being more popular than pet battles in the end.
As for those with no interest yes there are players out there but since it doesn’t hurt anyone not to participate I don’t think you’ll hear much from the deliberately homeless camp.
Of all living WoW villains, who is your favorite? Who would you be most excited to see return?
For me, it’s a tie between Azshara and Denathrius (I’m hoping they return together, TBH, talk about a power couple).
It’s a tough question because there honestly aren’t that many out there. Denathrius and Azshara as you mentioned, of course there’s Xal’atath, and Iridikron (remember him?) is still biding his time. There is one though that people tend to forget about but whose return would be both treacherous and alarming:
Nomi.
Q4Kal: What was your favorite announcement, trailer, performance, or anything else you saw in the 2025 Game Awards?
I’ll be honest, the 2025 Game Awards were kinda meh for me. None of the games I’m anticipating most got an announcement or update, and many of the titles revealed were on the creepy side or in genres I don’t normally play.
The game AUDIOMECH (revealed in the preshow) was the only game to get added to my wishlist on Steam because it looks like a mashup of rhythm games and R-Type which are both in my wheelhouse. The demo is out today so I may give it a try this weekend.
Other than that the title I was most interested in is Warlock but I’m adopting a wait-and-see attitude. The pros are Tricia Helfer, and Warlock is my favorite 5E D&D class. The con is that Hasbro has been ruining a lot of stuff lately on the D&D front so I’m not going to get excited until I’m sure they haven’t with Warlock.

That’s all the time and space we have for questions and answers today! I have a question for y’all: what are your thoughts on the Diablo 4 expansion announcement?
Everyone have a great weekend and we’ll do this again on Boxing Day!
