The Queue: cheese o’clock?
I’ve been existing on christmas cookies and cheese for the past few days. Time has no meaning, everything is just me in my oversized sweatshirt, avoiding cleaning the house or being a responsible adult or even moving all that much. You know, the norm.
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and yeah, yeah I’ll find my yoga mat in time for my futile new year’s resolution, don’t rush me.
I logged into an Alliance alt I haven’t touched in years just to get some housing xp from the Alliance only items, and does anyone else feel like the Alliance got not only a better housing island, but better exterior options compared to the Horde?
The Alliance housing exteriors are unquestionably better than what Horde has at this point. Even if you’re into the ‘weird unpolished mud hut’ aesthetic, the Alliance’s sheer number of varied options blows the Horde stuff out of the water.
I will say though, that the actual biomes and landscape, who has more options and all that, is debateable. I don’t think I’ve seen any plots I outright hate on either side, other than maybe two on the Horde side that have that dusty early Durotar vibe — but even if it isn’t my vibe, it definitely has a distinct identity, and that aligns with those hideous little huts to boot. I love both the beach and the various sorts of forests they have on Horde side. The only real forest on Alliance is kinda creepy.
I’m very hopeful that the Blood Elf options are going to be good — or at least better — and I’ll have a lovely little cottage on a Horde plot at last.
Q4tQ If an item drops and you don’t loot the mob that dropped it, did the item actually drop?
Yes, because the postmaster will mail it to you. Or, at least, he mails it to me. Maybe he just likes me more.
Q4tQ: have you ever looked up something in a game you couldn’t find, and found absolutely nobody else asking the same question, only to realize that you’d missed something really obvious? Because that was me tonight.
I’d say about a quarter of the time I look something up, it ends up being of the “click the singular pixel on the third clock at midnight on thursday but only if the black cat is outside the pub (NOT the art studio!)” variety. The rest of the time, the part I’m having trouble with will be addressed as, “go through the door and then,” and I’m like, what door? What are you even talking about? There’s no door???
Double points if the tutorial writer is like “lol that’s so easy,” which enrages me so much I’ve made a point to never use the word “easy” in a tutorial or walkthrough. I’ll even edit it out if it’s my turn to edit a tutorial around here. If somebody went through the trouble to look it up it isn’t easy for them and calling it easy in that context is snotty at best (even if it’s easy for the writer).
