The Queue: what, like it’s hard?
There are few greater pleasures in life than immediately obtaining the new hotness and being able to show it off.
Anyway, this is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and we’ll give you answers. What, this old thing?
Q4tQ How many Love Tokens did you get from your Heart-Shaped Box?
Around 13. I also got a couple more things. No big, no big.
I have my eye on the Pearlescent set, but there was already a set to match from the Trading Post, and for the life of me I couldn’t find any pieces that even remotely fit either the vibe or the metal. The shoulders will help, but there are still several slots to deal with. Some of my compatriots have informed me that this is in part due to the fact that I play a Hunter, the saddest transmog class.
The Overwatch team realized that the person I’d want to snipe in the face the most is a billionaire nepo baby, and so I truly appreciate the inclusion of Domina.
Q4tQ Should this be the theme of the new Hearthstone expansion?
This is not a Ben Brode rap and is therefore invalid as a thematic Hearthstone expansion track.
Q4TQ: How much are your character’s professions a part of their story to you?
They aren’t core to who she is, but they are a little bit of affirmative backstory. My headcanon is that my Hunter is a proud Blood Elf, but since her bestie is huge stinky bear, that doesn’t exactly fit in with the diaphanous curtains and gilt of society. Skinning and Leatherworking are very much in line with that. She wants to show respect by using the whole animal when she’s out in the backcountry in her element, and making her own utilitarian gear just makes sense. But Herbalism and Alchemy would also make sense with her outdoorsy nature.
If lumberjacking was available as a primary profession I might swap her to that. It just reads outdoorsy.
Dont you think Curling sounds like something made up for a mockumentary by Christopher Guest a la Best In Show?
Many Olympic events seem like that. Hockey? Sure. Figure skating with points for artistry? Eh. Skiing for a long time and then shooting a gun? Sign me up.
There are a bunch of Summer events like that, too, especially when viewed together, especially the “and field” part of track and field. Can you throw this rock? What about this slightly elongated rock? How about this long stick? Can you throw that, too? Fascinating.
Most of those events are grounded in history and warfare in some way. Cross-country skiing used to be a really efficient mode of transportation in snowy areas in winter. But divorced of that context, now a lot of these events just seem goofy.
