The Warlock class is coming to the Diablo 4, Diablo 2, and Diablo Immortal — and it’s live right now in Diablo 2 Resurrected
The Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight started with a big surprise, announcing a new class coming to not one, not two, but three games in the franchise: the Warlock. We expected to hear about a new class for Diablo 4, we were not surprised by a new class for Diablo Immortal (which has consistently released a new class every year), but hearing that Diablo 2 Resurrected was getting a new playable class for the first time in 25 years came as a bit of a shock. Let’s talk about the new-to-the-franchise Warlock class, which is available now for Diablo 2 Resurrected with purchase of the Reign of the Warlock DLC, coming to Diablo 4 with the Lord of Hatred expansion on April 28, 2026, and joining the Diablo Immortal class line-up in June 2026.
The Warlock is “disciplined, ominous, and incredibly knowledgeable,” managing the battlefield by summoning, binding, and even consuming demons (and you can mix and match between the three). Their D2R summoning options include the Goatmen, the Tainted, and the Defiler, while binding and consuming can happen to any demon in the game. Warlocks can only bind one demon at a time, but the Warlock benefits from that demon’s powers and both demon and warlock are strengthened by the binding. Conversely, consuming a demon removes them from battlefield play by absorbing their essence for a power-up. Consuming will always grant increased movement speed, but other temporary buffs and traits are also driven by the demon consumed (similar to binding).
Their other two skill categories, Chaos and Eldritch, tap into the class’s caster roots. Chaos skills “channel chaotic magic, hellfire, and destruction,” blasting through enemies with powerful spells. Conversely, the Eldritch skills are more “dark mysticism…in close quarters,” as the Warlock telekinetically controls two-handed weapons while imbuing them with hexes for more brutal attacks. Their Chaos magic sounds very much like the classical Fire Mage/Sorcerer archetype (or World of Warcraft’s Destruction Warlock spec), but Eldritch skills are fairly unique; Blizzard even notes they are the sole class that can wield two-handed weapons alongside an offhand!
We don’t have full details on how the class will play in Diablo 4 or Diablo Immortal, but you should expect a similar skillset.

The DNA of the Warlock is baked into the Diablo backstory, originating with Vizjerei demon summoners in the franchise lore. The first summoning revealed Sanctuary’s presence to the Burning Hells and ultimately led to both the Sin War and the Mage Clan Wars. Driven by this history, the Warlock is “all about turning the wrath of Hell against itself,” and we’re pretty curious how a newly-added class will feel across three different titles.
You can play the Warlock in Diablo 2 Resurrected right now by purchasing the Reign of the Warlock DLC ($25). You’ll have to wait until April to play the Warlock in the Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion ($40), or June to play the Warlock in Diablo Immortal.
