The Queue: Nintendo Switch Twoooooo
I decided to hasten my original plans and get a Nintendo Switch 2 now rather than wait until May. I’m now the proud owner of this new console, and I’m ready to… delve into my backlog of Switch 1 games.
Until Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave is launched, at least. Though I did get the new Mario Kart, and I’ve heard good things about Donkey Kong Bonanza. We’ll see how it goes.
Welcome to The Queue, our daily Q&A column where we buy things now just to be safe, we change our plans at a moment’s notice, and in the meantime, we answer questions.
I used to hate this new iteration of wind monk, then I got rid of the Zenith talent. I still hate this iteration of wind monk, but at least I can kick people really hard now
Waffle no! You’re not supposed to just… not take your main DPS cooldown, which was positioned dead center in the talent tree exactly to make sure no one will ever skip it!!! …how does that even work? Without Zenith, you can’t get Strike of the Windlord or Whirling Dragon Punch either!!!
Seriously, man, you need to rethink this. I implore you.
…buuut I totally hear you that Zenith is boring, and I sorely miss my Storm, Earth, and Fire. (I’ve said this before, but if the issue was bugs, they could have made your clones a purely visual effect, and just add some cleave to your attacks or something!)
Do I… Do I event want that pink rocket?
I don’t even know anymore…
The truth is that the pink rocket is no longer as elusive as it once was. A lot more people have it now, with the greatly buffed drop rates. With the current tuning, queuing for the Apothecaries has become a feasible holiday activity rather than an almost complete waste of time.
So just keep queuing, I say, without thinking much on it. Besides, if (when!) you eventually get it, it is still a reasonably unique mount that instills a weird sense of pride. (Plus, I like most mechanical mounts.)
Q4TQ: Has anyone ever played Songs of Conquest? Also on another note I just discovered that I can play GOG games on my Steam Deck. Has anyone tried doing that?
I have not played Songs of Conquest, but it does look pretty interesting for fans of the Might & Magic games. I’m all about tactical turn-based games, so I’ll keep an eye on this one.
As for your other question, I haven’t tried GOG specifically, but I have tried and succeeded at playing other desktop apps that allow one to launch games on my Steam Deck! It is a bit of a convoluted process, granted, but you can definitely do it, and it’s extremely convenient to do so.
…I do have sizeable libraries on platforms such as GOG and Epic. Maybe I should look into this. Hmmm.
Q4tQ What gaming genre would you like to see the K Pop Demon Hunters in?
Rhythm game, obviously! I mean, it’s just a given. And I do enjoy rhythm games a lot. (But give me something more like Theathrhythm or the Persona Dancing games than Rift of the Necrodancer in terms of difficulty! Rift got too brutal to fast.)
After that, a JRPG. We do have Tokyo Mirage Sessions already, the “SMT + Fire Emblem” crossover game that ended up being more like K-Pop Demon Hunters, but does have an extremely fun combat system that leans into the whole “idol performance” angle. It could be done again, and better!
Q4tQ: is there a single word with a more varied vocal interpretation than “……” in an anime/JRPG?
… (😑 awkward silence…)
…!! (💢 barely suppressed rage!!)
… (🤔 pondering…)
…! (😠 judgment!)
… ( 🙄 refusing to engage…)
…!!! (💔 heartbreak!!!)
You’re absolutely right, there isn’t.

Fortune’s Weave is still months away. Sad times. In the meantime, I do have a lot to play on the Switch 2, at least.
This has been The Queue, and I hope you all have a good weekend.
