The Queue: “Would you play WoW 2 if it looked like this?”
Looking at the new Silvermoon, and Eversong Woods in general is, in many ways, almost like looking at a “WoW 2.” Or, perhaps, a remastered version of WoW. It’s a bigger, better-looking, improved on nearly every aspect version of the same zones we first saw in Burning Crusade, 19 years ago. Familiar places, locations, NPCs, looking shiny and new and breathtaking.
This is The Queue, our daily Q&A column where we have a constant sense of awe finding out how that gate or that tunnel or that spire looks just like it does in our memories, but better.
Do we get Apex talents as we level or when we reach max level?
If we get them as we level, at what levels do we get them?
While leveling in Midnight content, we get four points that we can spend on our spec tree (the one to the right), on levels, 81, 84, 87, and 90. Those points can also be used for Apex Talents — which means you can already get a taste of your Apex talent as soon as you hit level 81. And the fourth and final one at level 90 is a true capstone to your leveling journey.
On levels 82, 85, and 88, we get three points for our class tree (the one to the left). And on levels 83, 86, and 89, we get three points for our hero talent tree — which means we can fill it out completely, since every hero spec got exactly three new talents with Midnight.
The new housing article (linked by FuzzyBunny below) says they plan to let non-combat pets roam around inside and sit outside of houses. Which pets would you add to your home and where?
Argi is the first one, for sure. This silly little goat is probably my favorite non-combat pet overall, and I love to imagine him running around my house and eating random objects.
What is your favorite transmog going into Midnight? Obviously we have to get the vibes right before we go off to save the world (again). Are you fashionably prepared?
The first character I’m taking into Midnight, my Void Elf Devourer DH, is actually employing a neat trick I discovered where the Azshara dress from Legion Remix will “stretch itself” around certain pants — those that have a “bulkier” shape at the top, like the Gilnean Noble’s Trousers. The result is that the top ends up looking kinda like a short dress. It looks cool! I would say I am, in fact, fashionably prepared (especially since that character is a Demon Hunter).

Q4tQ: How’s your non-WoW related gaming progress going?
Bonus Q4tQ: talk about your general first impressions of Midnight early access
Well, I have been steadily playing a little bit of Mario Kart World (almost) every day. Finished the main cups! But to be honest, the lion’s share of my gaming is dedicated to WoW right now.
My impressions are that the revamp of Eversong and its surrounding areas is everything I’ve ever wanted to see in WoW for a long, long time now. I really wanted them to slowly update the old world, bit by bit, and this absolutely scratches that itch. It’s incredibly nostalgic to see all those places you quested in back in BC, modernized, looking better than ever, with shiny new content. All the callbacks, and references. It’s great.
what is the weirdest thing still in your bank? (cough cough)
Weirdest? Probably the duplicate pets we got from special promos but can only learn one of, like Baby Blizzard Bear and Onyxian Whelpling. I just couldn’t bring myself to delete the extras, so they sit in my banks.
Or the mountains of weird currency like Giant Dinosaur Bones from Isle of Giants and Sandworn Relics from Zereth Mortis. I have 6993 Sandworn Relics in my Warbank.
There’s also some leftover Argent Crusade stuff from the Wrath pre-expansion event on my Mage’s, Rogue’s, and Hunter’s banks. Insignia of the Dawn, stuff like that.
And lots of old heirlooms with enchants and gems, from the time when we cared about that. I’d pass those heirlooms to whichever alt I was leveling at the moment. It made a difference back then!
You said you plan on 3 Haranir so what class/spec and how do you plan to make each look?
So, I made a lot of Haranir characters on the beta to test everything out. Probably five or six total.
I quickly discarded playing a male Haranir because, while they do look very cool when just standing around idly, they share the exact same animations as the male Night Elf, and I really don’t like those. So I decided that I’d only play female Haranir — they share the female Night Elf animations, and those are among my favorites in the game.
After a lot of testing and fussing over a spreadsheet, I ended up deciding to roll a Hunter (Beast Mastery) on the Horde side, in addition to changing an existing Alliance Shaman and Horde Monk to Haranir as well.
I tried out a lot of different customization options for them, and thankfully there are quite a few options that I really like, so I’ll just pick from those (I’ve taken notes so I can easily recreate them on live).

Which races do you have 4 characters of?
None! Which is surprising given that there are four races I have 3 characters of (Belf, Nelf, Velf, and soon, Haranir), and one race I have 5 characters of (Dracthyr). But none at exactly four.
1) Does Valeera stab you to heal?
2) Can you jump into the Sunwell?
3) Does new Silvermoon have a fishing area?
1) No, she throws some heart containers from Zelda on the ground, and those heal you.
2) You can jump around it.
3) There are a few. First one you’ll probably notice is the enormous pool right as you enter the city. The Fishing Trainer is even there!
What have you sacrificed?
My sleep schedule, to be able to play WoW and write this Queue.

This has been The Queue. Seeing the revamped Quel’Thalas has really made me hopeful for an old dream I’ve had for a while now: expansions that focus on revamping the old world, little by little, bringing it up to modern standards while simultaneously delivering us great new content. I hope we see much more of this.
