How to unlock Mysterious Skyshards to get the Echo of Aln’sharan mount

Like any good World of Warcraft update from the last decade, the Midnight expansion introduces a whole host of new mounts for collectors to get their hands on. One such mount is the Echo of Aln’sharan — a cloud serpent that, frankly, looks like it’s made out of Azerite. Of course, unlocking it isn’t entirely straightforward and if you don’t complete the right quests early enough, you may miss out on passive farming opportunities. Here’s everything you’ll need to do if you want to unlock the ability to get Mysterious Skyshards to get the Echo of Aln’sharan mount.

At a top-line level, getting the Echo of Aln’sharan requires the following:

  • Progression through the first major Harandar Campaign questline, Of Caves and Cradles. This will unlock the next step.
    • Note: There are conflicting reports as to exactly how far players must progress; it’s possible you only need to complete To Sow the Seed, which is about five quests earlier.
  • Completion of a few short quests from Kuri, who can be found in the northeast corner of Harandar.
  • Farming 500 Mysterious Skyshards, then finding Aln’sharan flying around the outskirts of Harandar. Reports indicate that Aln’sharan is not a vendor purchase, so you’ll have to find the NPC in the zone and click him while in range (but not mounted).

That’s it! At the end of the day, it’s all about finishing a few quests and then farming the heck out of Skyshards.

What’s really important about all of this is that Mysterious Skyshards drop all throughout Harandar — including Delves — but you won’t ever see them drop until you complete Kuri’s quests. For this reason, anyone hoping to collect the Aln’sharan mount will want to focus on completing these quests as early as possible in Harandar.

Similarly, that Mysterious Skyshards are bound to your Warband, so you can farm them on alt characters! However, at the time of this writing, Mysterious Skyshards do not unlock at an account level, so your alts will need to complete the questline first if you want them to also earn Skyshards.

The grind to 500 Skyshards won’t be quick, but by completing Kuri’s quests as early as possible, you’ll be able to move through the rest of Harandar without tragically missing out on passive Skyshard farming. Good luck!
