The Queue: Glory be for a bounty so richly abundant!
This little guy might be the highlight of the weekly events for me. Hunting down wayward Magisters and Thornspeakers for a weirdo with a suffering fixation? Holding fancy parties in the woods? Defending a black hole in the Voidstorm? No thanks. I’ll take this little rat loa, his big booming voice, and his pachinko machine world event. Though maybe doing it sixteen times last week by using eight shards from early access and eight more from week one was a lot.
No, your eyes do not deceive you: it’s a brand new Queue author! But if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s authoritatively answering questions like I know what I’m talking about, so let’s get into it; you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.
Q4tQ: Have you discovered Silverglade Refuge yet? Do you think it will have significance later on? Or is this just a neat tribute to the old northern-most point in the Eastern Kingdom, when it was planned to be the way for Classic players to get to Northrend
Not until I read this question, at which point I got back out of bed and logged on to go see it and poke around. This is pretty neat! I don’t know if it’ll have any greater significance later — Blizzard does occasionally just drop little things in here like this just to reward people who like to explore, like the Tortollan dive bars in the housing zones — but it’s exactly the kind of place that could serve as a springboard for an x.5 or x.7 content zone.
It also finally explains some of the panicked Silvermoon citizens I heard complaining about Quel’dorei amassing on their southern borders. I remember opening the map and blinking in confusion. Amassing in the Plaguelands? That’s a self-solving problem, honestly.
Q4tQ: So are Profession Bags not a thing for Midnight?
Profession bags haven’t been a thing since Warlords of Draenor! Actual bags have finally caught up to them in size, and with the introduction of Reagent Bags in Dragonflight as the catch-all oversized crafting bag (and a special fifth slot to hold them), I wouldn’t hold my breath for any new profession bags.
That said, there are two new Reagent Bags, if you need to eke out a couple more slots: the 38-slot Bright Linen Reagent Satchel (matching the largest bag from The War Within), and the luxuriously 40-slot Arcanoweave Reagent Rucksack.
Q4tQ: Where is your Hearthstone set in Midnight?
Currently, Amani’Zar Village. My main right now is a Haranir Warrior who also happens to be an Engineer, so I have a quick portal to Silvermoon City with the Key to the Arcantina, a teleport to Harandar via Rootwalking, and a Wormhole Generator that can spit me out in any Midnight zone. Honestly, with all that, I’m not even sure I need to keep my home point set to this expansion at all. Maybe I’ll move it somewhere weird — the Secret Cabal of the Mind-Seekers had a Hearthstone spot way underneath the sea in their secret clubhouse, maybe I’ll set my Hearthstone there.
What’s everyone’s position on being able to walk into your neighbors’ houses? i apparently have mine set so only friends and guildies can come in, but i guess not everyone knows that’s a setting you can choose.
I have both of mine set so that friends and guildmates can enter. Granted, both of my neighborhoods are guild neighborhoods, which means the few visitors we get are friends of friends, most likely; I’m less likely to have complete strangers wandering around, even if I did open it up for all. That said, I do want my houses to be visitable — I’m rather proud of what I’ve done with both of them, even if the tavern hall in my Founder’s Point home is still in progress.
Q4tQ: did you know you can get a capybara pet with this dungeon achievement? You’ll need a full group of people who are actually willing to do a thing, though.
This is definitely on my to-do list for the week. I’ve been squealing over the capybaras (or “kaparas”) in Zul’Aman ever since stumbling them tootling around Filo’s shrine.
Looks like it will require an actual group of real people because you’ll need to string them across the left-hand side of Nexus-Point Xenas — but you can also just pop into Normal to get it done, it doesn’t even require you to fight a single boss.
