Blizzard Watch Weekly: Going into week 2 of Midnight Season 1
It’s been a bit of a slow week, which is kind of unexpected since we’re going into the second week of Midnight’s first Race to World First. But the race has gone so fast that it’s been kind of slow and now it’s Monday, with several days of no progress due to time-gated raid release schedule. There’s more of the race to come with this week’s WoW server reset, so we’re staying tuned.
For now, it’s time to take a look back at what’s been happening this week, and what’s coming up. (Not too much and not too much, respectively.) Here’s the latest Blizzard gaming news.
What happened last week?
- The first round of Midnight Mythic raids launched, and with it the Race to World First. It’s been pretty undramatic so far: Liquid jumped in early and kept the lead until defeating Alleria in Mythic Crown of the Cosmos on Thursday. We’re now waiting for the next raid of the tier to open on Tuesday with the March of Quel’Danas raid for the race to kill the last two bosses. I’ll keep you up to date on Blizzard Watch, or you can watch the race live yourself.
- Diablo 3 launched Season 38, bringing back Ethereal Weapons. They’re a fun Diablo 2 callback, and all in all this could be an entertaining diversion while we wait for the Diablo 4 expansion to launch.
- Blizzard has launched a new WoW Twitch Drop: another color variant of the murloc plushie decor item, a purple version called the Cuddly Void Grrgle. It’s available through April 23.
- In fashion news, we have a guide on how to collect your Finery Funds to pick up some stylish Silvermoon-themed cosmetic sets.
- And in housing news, Blizzard slashed the Voidlight Marl cost of housing decor on Midnight renown vendors, which were pretty unaffordable on launch. Time to stock up on your faction-forward decor.
- This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is the Encounter at the Crossroads Tavern Brawl, and it’s all random all the time. Pick a class, get a random deck, and do your best.
What’s happening this week (and beyond)
- March 31: Mists of Pandaria Classic launches Phase 4: Escalation, as the factions of the Horde rebel against Garrosh in the lead-in to Siege of Orgrimmar, which will launch in Phase 5 (no date for that yet).
- March 31: Midnight Season 1 adds the March on Quel’Danas raid on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties, and opens Voidspire Raid Finder wing 3. March on Quel’Danas adds the last two Mythic raid bosses of this tier, and will be the beginning of the end of the Race to World First.
- April 7: Midnight Season 1 opens Story Mode and Raid Finder for the March on Quel’Danas raid.
- Through April 23: The latest WoW Twitch Drop runs almost through the end of the month, with a new color of the much-loved murloc plushie.
- April 28: Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred launches
- Until they’re gone: BlizzCon 2026 tickets are on sale
Other things we’re playing, watching, and more
- This week’s Epic Games Store freebies are two very different games, both of which you might play just for the vibes: Havendock, a cozy little town management sim, and Hyper Echelon, a classic arcade-style shooter. Something for everyone.
This week’s podcasts
- Blizzard Watch Podcast: How we’re feeling about Midnight now that we’re playing it
- Lore Watch Podcast: The story of dragons in World of Warcraft

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading, and I’ll be back next week with another weekly news recap!
