The Queue: The Great Goblin in the Noble Garden
It’s almost Noblegarden, the annual holiday where the Great Goblin in the Noble Garden puts on his bunny costume, finds a nice spot to crouch down, [REDACTED], and we get a lot of chocolate eggs. Nature on Azeroth is beautiful.
This is The Queue, our daily Q&A column where all the lore is made up, and the points don’t matter. But the questions do matter, so let’s get to them!
Q4tQ: what’s the biggest dangling plot thread or bit of lore you’d like to see get addressed in a future expansion?
How does the Great Goblin in the Noble Garden make his chocolate eggs?
“Night Elves who are born with golden eyes are meant to have a great destiny ahead of them.”
I kinda have a bit of a Know Your Lore: Tinfoil Hat Edition theory about this. You know how Night Elves were Dark Trolls who mutated after being exposed to the waters of the Well of Eternity, right? And the Well of Eternity is, well, the lifeblood of Azeroth itself.
Kinda like that substance that oozed out of the earth when Sargeras stabbed the planet. Azerite, it was called. It was blue and gold, if I recall.
What if the gold from the eyes of those Night Elves with great destinies has very much the same origin as the gold from Azerite? What if it’s a permanent mark that serves as evidence that they carry a little bit of the essence of Azeroth herself within them?
It would certainly explain why such prophecies seem to actually come true (if some of the characters who are known to have been born with golden eyes, such as Illidan Stormrage and Queen Azshara, are any indication). Something that empowers them and, at the same time, truly ties their fates to the fate of Azeroth itself, for better or for worse.
Q4tQ:
While setting up my raid trophies on a shelf, it occurred to me that there should be a little statue of your character for some event or achievement. Good idea or Ultradumb?
Ultra good idea!
I’ve said it before, but achievements being turned into house decor is one of the things I want the most from the housing system. The idea of a little statue of your character reminds me of those statues we got in our Garrisons in Draenor, which were, in fact, directly tied to our achievements. Maybe we could get one or more statues of our character, of different sizes, and simply collect different poses or outfits for it, related to our achievements.
To give some examples from the past: you get some hard achievement related to the Lich King? You get to display your character statue wearing the Lich King’s armor. An achievement related to Deathwing? Your character statue can now do a “dragon roar” pose. I think that would be a super fun idea.
Due to the recent wow lore, do you think we’ll ever see Corellon in WoW? Has he ever been mentioned before? Does it make sense to have a “god of light”?
I’m not super familiar with Corellon from Forgotten Realms, but I know that he is the chief deity of the elves (and their creator), and strongly associated with Light. So I assume what you’re asking if it’s possible for us to see a patron god of the elves, or of Light itself, in WoW.
Elune fits the bill, though she’s chiefly worshiped by a different kind of elf. She’s a goddess of the moon, not Light, and we know very little about her (thankfully); she seemed to be a true deity, above the cosmology chart , until Shadowlands sadly introduced some Winter Queen calling her “sister.” But if we choose to ignore that, yes, we do have a goddess associated with elven creation (Night Elves are said to take after her image) and, in a sense, Light.
Could we have a different deity, not Elune, related to the High/Blood Elves, and more directly tied to Light — the way Naaru are, for instance? I assume we could, and the Tauren do talk about a sun-aligned An’she to accompany Mu’sha, who is likely just a different name (or interpretation) for Elune. Does An’she exist? Does Elune have a Light/sun sibling or companion god of sorts? We don’t know, but the lore foundation is there.
I hope they don’t explain it all, though. Alluding to it is great, but keeping it a mystery is necessary.
Q4tQ: Is it just me or is anyone else having the problem on some alts where the game becomes unplayable when I open the transmog interface? I have characters who NEED to up their look and who go into a death-spiralling re-rezzing mode when they move past page 1 of their sets list. :-(
It’s a real problem, yeah. For me, personally, it got considerably worse with Midnight (after the big transmog revamp). When I open the transmog pane, the game usually freezes, blinks out of existence, then returns with no models loaded, and THEN the models start to load.
I really hope Blizzard does some sort of optimization pass on this at some point.
Q4TQ: Would you like to be one of the astronauts on Artemis II right now (I would!) or are you more of a I want to have my feet on the ground?
To quote my wise friend Random Dwarf NPC #51: Keep yer feet on the ground!
But no, seriously, no. I REALLY wouldn’t want to go to space. I think I’d be beyond terrified the whole time.
The one thing i do miss with the new mog system is just being able to do ad-hoc single slot transmogging.
I don’t need to have a full gear set saved to always wear.
The system needs to accommodate both methods imo.
I definitely see what you mean. The best solution I’ve found so far is to have certain outfit slots dedicated to a single item that I know I’ll use on a lot of different outfits (i.e., the sunglasses), or an outfit slot dedicated to “hide tabard, hide shirt, hide helm, hide back” (with the “ignore slot” option turned on to every other gear slot). But that’s a bit of a clunky solution, and there are still a lot of minor annoyances such as Situations not always picking stuff correctly every now and then, or the Legion Artifact override option doing the same.
I feel like a decent solution would be to simply have a secondary character paperdoll on a separate tab that’s like a “full override” set. Whatever you put on that always takes precedence over your selected mog and your situations. And a simple way to toggle the full override on or off, so you can easily turn it off at any point without losing what’s in there.

This has been The Queue. Have a great weekend with lots of chocolate (if you partake)!
