Blizzard Watch Weekly: An abundance of things to do (but not much news)
It’s another somewhat slow week in the Blizzard gaming world, but what can we say, we’re too busy playing Midnight to be upset. After all, I have reputations to grind, fishing to train, and world events that need to be completed before reset. It makes sense to have some slow news days when we’re all still occupied by the latest content. But we have a Diablo 4 expansion soon, and Midnight patch 12.0.5 shouldn’t be too far out. There’s plenty just on the horizon.
But for now, let’s take a look back on what’s happened over the last week and what’s coming up this week. Here’s the latest Blizzard gaming news.
What happened last week?
- The March on Quel’danas raid has launched, and the Midnight Season 1 Race to World First is stumbling to the finish line on the final two bosses of the tier, who are much tougher than anything in the Voidspire. Liquid got the world first kill on Belo’ren, and Liquid also discovered that final boss L’ura has a secret Mythic phase… that’s looking pretty tough. I’ll keep you up to date on Blizzard Watch, or you can watch the race live yourself.
- The Darkmoon Faire launched this weekend, so be sure to head out to the fairgrounds to get your bonus profession knowledge for the month! It only lasts until the end of the week, so don’t delay!
- Good transmog news! In WoW patch 12.0.5, you will be able to control how you sheathe your weapons from the transmog menu.
- Since it is April, we’ve rounded up our favorite April Fools jokes in case you need a polite chuckle.
- But the best April Fools joke definitely came from Diablo 4, which launched a new world boss: Chi’Khan, the Fowl Beast, a giant chicken which replaces all world bosses. There’s a selection of new loot to collect, all of which is chicken themed. Unfortunately there is still not a cow level.
- This week’s Hearthstone Tavern Brawl is A Totally Normal Game of Hearthstone, which is totally normal except for all the random cards that are played when you play any card. We have some deck suggestions to make the most of this totally normal mechanic.
What’s happening this week (and beyond)
- April 6 – 13: Noblegarden goes live in WoW, though we don’t know that there’s anything new you do get an opportunity to get a new color for your duckling pet.
- April 7: Midnight Season 1 opens Story Mode and Raid Finder for the March on Quel’Danas raid.
- Through April 12: Darkmoon Faire in WoW
- Through April 23: The latest WoW Twitch Drop runs almost through the end of the month, with a new color of the much-loved murloc plushie.
- April 27 – March 4: WoW Children’s Week goes live, though again, we haven’t heard if this year has anything new.
- April 28: Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred launches
- Until they’re gone: BlizzCon 2026 tickets are on sale
Other things we’re playing, watching, and more
- This week’s Epic Games Store freebie is Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, in which you control a pixelated robot fighting other pixelated robots with plenty of pixelated violence. If the description caught you, the game is free through Thursday.
This week’s podcasts
- Blizzard Watch Podcast: The side quests of Quel’Danas
- Lore Watch Podcast: Sam Kieth’s impact and legacy in comics
- Tavern Watch plays Triangle Agency, episode 2: The best birthday party you never had
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading, and I’ll be back next week with another weekly news recap!
