Overwatch Summer Games is back for 2026
Overwatch Summer Games, a favorite limited-time event even for the most casual of followers, is back from July 15 through July 31 2026. In addition to the popular limited-time game modes, there is also a set of event challenges to complete, which rewards players with battle pass XP, sprays, player icons, and loot boxes for participation and excellence.
The Summer Games event features three unique gameplay modes in the Arcade:
- Lucioball
- Lucioball Remix
- Winston’s Beach Volleyball
Lucioball is less like World Cup Football and more like Rocket League, with multiple Lucios wallriding their hearts out to (hopefully!) get their ball in the goal as many times as they can. Remix changes up the rules, for a more dynamic match. For both Lucioball and the Remix, there’s a mercy rule, where if you’re outscored by five before time runs out, the game ends automatically. Winston’s Beach Volleyball allows you to pick multiple different Heroes to dive, spike, and set a volleyball back and forth, with a limited set of characters, most of whom have some kind of ability to dart to the ball in the nick of time. Beach Volleyball also has a mercy rule, so if you’re getting absolutely stomped, hopefully it won’t be too long.
I’m all about the silver linings.
In addition to the in-game hype, the Overwatch team is also bringing the Summer Games to Twitch, with Lifeguard-themed Drops to celebrate Season 3 midseason. These Drops are also live now but run until August 3, a little later than the Summer Games event in-game.
