It's cold, wet, or snowy, and just all over miserable, but World Hippo Day is February 15!

Somehow, despite this site's love for hippos of the pygmy variety, we've written very little about hippos of the extremely adorable full-sized variety.

We mentioned in last week's Pygmy Hippo Watch (not a phrase I ever expected to write) that Metro Richmond Zoo's yet-unnamed baby was merely the most recent arrival in a personality-packed lineup of newborn pygmy hippos in the last year.

It feels like sacrilege to start with a "Happy Monday," Watchers.

Sometimes, for no reason at all, you need some cuteness to sock you right in the organs.
