The Queue: Facemelting

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

ANONNYMOUSE7 ASKED:

Speaking of graphics, did weeds/grass always swish around you when you walk or ride through them? For some reason, I feel like I just noticed that sometime in the last expansion or two. Did it always do that and I just never noticed?

I do believe that’s a new thing in Warlords of Draenor. It went in at the same time as the mechanic which tries to make patrolling NPCs walk around you rather than through you — to questionable results.

CHRISROSERA ASKED:

With information about legion only coming in during large conventions, is there any way we can check what gaming con’s Blizzard will be at and hope for new information? My guild would very much like me to stop driving them nuts with my rants and speculation!

The only convention prior to BlizzCon which, as far as I know, will have a Blizzard presence is TwitchCon September 25-26. We’re not entirely sure what to expect from TwitchCon — it might not be World of Warcraft at all. The common belief is TwitchCon is where Overwatch will reveal the new characters they’ve begun teasing.

TOOFDOCTOR ASKED:

What is everyone else doing to combat the doldrums? I’m feeling really stuck right now. I play a good bit of Heroes of the Storm, but I’m finding it harder and harder to log into WoW.

Metal Gear Solid 5 has devoured my entire life since it released, but outside of that, Heroes of the Storm has become my fallback. I play just enough Hearthstone to do my dailies during Tavern Brawls I find enjoyable, but then it’s back to Heroes. I guess I can throw Diablo 3 into the Hearthstone pool with the new season — I leveled a Crusader for the first time to unlock the mount in Heroes of the Storm and had a good time doing it. The endless grind of the Diablo 3 level cap doesn’t hold my interest, though.

@FIERY25123 ASKED:

What do you think the odds are of more classes getting the Survival treatment? I’m hoping for melee fire mages!

I think it’s too late to do huge sweeping changes unless there are specs that are truly redundant, like in the case of hunters. Where mages are concerned, I have found it weird that the delineation is frost/fire/arcane. I’d figure masters of magic would use everything available to them! If specs were more like subclasses, I think it’d be pretty rad to have the ranged DPS mage, the melee DPS explosion mage, and the support mage. I don’t play a mage, though. Actual mage players might hate that.

@HYPERTIGERXT ASKED:

Bards are my #1 wish for WoW, and I love the buff/debuff mechanic idea. How would they solo though? Would they be expected to dps as well as buff/debuff in group encounters? Weapons or spells?

Two words: Arcanite Ripper.

PPHOENIX ASKED:

What’s a good character to start with in Heroes of the Storm?

It depends on the free rotation! Unless you’re interested in spending a bunch of cash up front, you’re limited by whichever characters are available for free play that week. This week is a pretty good one for newbies, I feel. Li Li is probably the easiest support to play because her healing spell automatically targets the lowest-health hero in your vicinity. As long as you can move your character and hit that button on cooldown, you’re going to be decently effective. That won’t carry you to the championships of a major esports tournament, but as a newbie, that isn’t on your radar anyway. Arthas and E.T.C. are both warriors which are free-to-play this week and neither of them are particularly complex. Do some training, learn what your buttons do, and you’ll be fine.
