The Queue: In which Fox communes with nature
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
I had the sheer joy of a Fox Van Allen visit earlier this week when he drove through my town during his lengthy cross-country road trip, and of course I couldn’t pass up the chance to introduce him to some of Colorado’s friendlier wildlife. No ground squirrels were harmed in the taking of this photo — but they did receive a nice pick-me-up for the day and a substantial pile of critter-friendly food to stash away for those cold winter months.
Q4tQ: What are you doing with your spare/gaming time in the current stage of Warlords? (excluding maintenance of Garrisons)
I just began leveling a(nother) Prot Warrior, Ivh, on the “of the Queue” US-Nesingwary, so a big thanks to the Queuevians for the invite and looking forward to playing more with you guys. Other than that:
Diablo 3. The gameplay is essentially everything I want from WoW. 6 abilities chosen from dozens of all VASTLY customizable and iconic combinations. An inbuilt health potion and scroll of town portal. A transmog, vanishing and dyeing system. In WoW, I don’t like gear, but Diablo has gear and abilities that work together to create a vastly different experience at every turn. I honestly don’t think Blizzard has a finer game out at the moment. So, if (like me) you’ve become bored with the monotony of Warlords, and have a soft spot for smashing dark forces in theirs- I say give D3 a go. I just started a seasonal Crusader, and am loving every minute.
Having discovered that the best thing to do with a large stash of gold is to purchase some Medallions of the Legion to max out my reputation with everyone on Draenor, I decided to finish knocking off the last few achievements I need to pick up Draenor Pathfinder and fly my way around the world. I still need Assault on Darktide Roost, which is weird because it’s the first assault quest I ever completed. And because it’s an assault quest, I just kind of have to wait for the thing to roll around.
Beyond that, I’ve been fiddling with other games — I just finished playing through the entirety of the Mass Effect trilogy, which was really fun. I tend to pick up a lot of games during Steam sales, so I have a backlog of various games to try out and play. Next on the list is Armikrog, which I helped fund through Kickstarter. It’s a point and click puzzle game that was done with stop-motion claymation. If you remember The Neverhood, this is done by the same team of people, right down to the music.
…I’m probably going to have to dig up my old copy of The Neverhood when I’m done with this and replay it for old time’s sake.
Q4tQ: What is your favorite starting zone (Elwynn, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Azuremyst Isle, Gilneas, Durotar, Tirisfal, Mulgore, Eversong, Kezan+Lost Isles, Wandering Isle or Scarlet Enclave)?
I really, really, really like Gilneas. I love the atmosphere, I love the scenery and I love the story. I do not, however, have any max-level worgen characters, because there’s nothing to do with Gilneas after that starting experience. The whole zone is so thematically interesting and unlike pretty much anything else on Azeroth, I really wish that they’d have done more with it. I’m hoping maybe we’ll see more on Gilneas in Legion, since Genn’s in the cast list on the expansion website. Fingers crossed!
Q4Q: do you really think Bliz will hold everything for Blizcon? I expect a good bit of info for that week when GW2 HOT and SWTOR KotFE launch.
We might see a little bit of information, but I doubt we’ll see any major news until BlizzCon at this point. I’m actually pretty okay about this, because it means that we should get some really good panels this year, and a lot of information to process. Since we’ve had a few months to look over Legion, and Blizzard has had a few months to look at our reaction and what we’d like to see more information about, I’m hoping that means we’ll see panels that are targeted to what we’d really like to hear, the stuff we’d like clarified.
Q4tQ: What are the chances that Blizzard is going to implement the new transmog system before Legion comes out? It could give players something to do while waiting for the expansion without Blizzard having to create new content. Gotta catch all them…uhm…transmog pieces.
I think it’d be cool to see, but I’m guessing the earliest we’d see it is pre-patch for Legion, when all changes and pre-expansion event stuff goes live.
There are ancients in both Draenor and Azeroth. Why are there giant tree guardians on two worlds?
Ordinarily I’d say this is a result of Titan interference, but I think it’s just one of those weird planetary quirks that pop up in the Warcraft universe — planets, for whatever reason, always have some kind of wild, natural element that acts as protection. Or maybe it does have something to do with Titan interference. Maybe having the Titans suddenly show up on a planet somehow influences the planet itself, causing it to spawn these natural protectors as a by-product of Titan presence. We don’t really know — maybe Chronicle will clear that up when it’s released.
What is the method (a weekly?) for catching up on the legendary ring quest that I saw mentioned in the 6.2 patch notes?
There are two catch up weekly quests, one for each part of the collection chain. For Abrogator Stones, you’ll want to talk to Kluk’kluk out in Tanaan Jungle for the weekly quest Abrogator Arbitrator. He’ll hand over five Abrogator Stone Clusters in exchange for 14,958 Apexis Crystals.
For Elemental Runes, you can talk to a Renegade Ironworker in Tanaan Jungle for the weekly quest Work Work Stoppage. He’ll hand over 75 Elemental Runes in exchange for 20,000 Apexis Crystals.
That might seem like a lot of Apexis Crystals, but doing things out in Tanaan Jungle will usually give you more Apexis than you really know what to do with anyway, and it’s a nice way to get some guaranteed quest items, if the raid bosses in Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry weren’t particularly forthcoming with the drops that week. Stash them away like a friendly ground squirrel. While they won’t see you through the cold winter months, you should still have enough for your legendary ring in no time.
That’s it for today’s Queue — if you have any questions you’d like to see answered, be sure to leave them in the comments below!
