Breakfast Topic: Paying it forward

Buried in a gigantic pile of potential garrison missions is one called The Consuming Void — maybe you’ve gotten it already, maybe you haven’t. But the key part of this particular mission is the reward, a Void-Shrouded Satchel that contains Touch of the Void, a pretty useful heirloom trinket that will last players all the way from 1-100. While the trinket doesn’t give you any kind of experience boost, it’s not exactly a terrible trinket, and it’s pretty helpful while you’re leveling. So when the mission finally popped up in my queue of errands to send minions on, I was pretty pleased, because it was a new heirloom to add to the collection.

And then I got the mission again. At first I thought this was kind of useless until I realized wait, that heirloom is Bind on Battle.net account — but the satchel isn’t bound to anything at all. So as long as you don’t open the bag and loot it, you can sell it if you want to. The bag can be traded with anyone on your server (or, presumably, connected realm as well). So I took my second satchel and went to Razor Hill, found the first new player that didn’t have any heirlooms equipped at all, opened a trade and handed it over.

I know when I was first leveling through the game, any small act of kindness from people around me was at once unexpected and pretty much made my day. So doing the same for someone else seemed like a much better idea than selling the thing for gold which, after an expansion’s worth of garrison farming, I didn’t really need anyway. The nice person I handed the trinket to thanked me and said they wished they had something to give me in return, which wasn’t really the point at all — hopefully they get good use out of the trinket, because it’s a pretty handy thing to have on an alt.

But I kind of wonder and want to know — because warm fuzzy feelings are always a nice way to start the day — what about you guys? Have you ever gotten something cool during your leveling journey? Some unexpected help that you really appreciated? Or have you done the same for your fellow players? Let’s hear your stories, and start the day off on a good note!
