The Queue: This is the cold that never ends
It just goes on and on, my friends.
Some people started coughing because they had this cold, and now they keep on coughing up forever, just behold.
Let’s go do the question and answer shuffle. I’ll be sniffling and hacking up a lung the whole time.
Why is lock-picking still even in the game? It just seems like one of the last holdovers from an older era. The only use seems to be to open lockboxes which drop from various trash – and those lockboxes generally contain useless junk.
Lockpicking is still in the game because it’s something Rogues do that has almost zero impact on gameplay. Removing it would make people’s lives mildly easier, would upset a few die hard Rogues, and ultimately have absolutely no impact on the majority of players. It’s a low risk, low reward ability — those few that care that it exists care enough that there’s no benefit to removing it just so people can pop open a lockbox without one.
Especially now that they’re trying to deliver on the whole ‘class fantasy’ ideal, stripping unique flavor pieces out that don’t have much if any impact on gameplay doesn’t make a lot of sense.
My ultimate 5 man dungeon team.
Tank: Arthas, the Lich King version. He could really take a beating while dishing it out.
DPS1: Slyvanas. She has some kickass ranged dps
DPS2: Thrall, because he cheats.
DPS3: Y’rel. When you absolutely, positively need to clear that orc camp… She does okay in off healing too.
Heals: Valen
This is a team that’s going to fall apart faster than that LFD you did where the tank just kept trying to skip trash but the healer didn’t know what he was doing and kept riding face first into it.
So I’ll play, of course.
Tank — Reginald Windsor. He’d going to face pull the dungeon anyway, he might as well tank it.
DPS 1 — Nathanos Marris, the Blightcaller. If you ever did Order Must Be Restored, you know why.
DPS 2 — Saurfang. Specifically, Cleave Master Saurfang of Orgrimmar. Dude was a beast.
DPS 3 — Tyrande Whisperwind. She really needs a break and she used to melt faces back in the day.
Healer — Calia Menethil. I’m just so happy she’s back.
A not at all complete or scientific list of things I’m excited for:
Artifacts. Especially the Warrior artifacts. So much freaking lore. I’m seriously considering leveling as Arms first because I’m so excited about Stromkar the Warbreaker I can’t even tell you.
New zones. I really enjoy exploring a world zone. If Blizzard found a way to keep dynamically adding content to world zones as the expansion kept going I’d be absolutely down for that.
The leveling system in Legion, where you can pick any zone you want to start and it scales to you. This is awesome.
Considering that tab targeting seems to prefer picking something other than the mob that’s currently punching me right in the face today, I’d hate to know what it was like when it was bad.
Pull up a chair, Digsu.
Y’see, not too long ago, tab targeting could and would do the following:
Pick a target that was behind you.
Pick a target that wasn’t anywhere to be seen. It wasn’t in range. Because it was underground or spawned into a tree or otherwise bugged out. But you could tab to it, hit it with an arrow, and put yourself in combat forever. Long after all of the Orcs who were attacking you were dead, you’d be in combat, unable to heal or eat or do anything but bandage and try and figure out what you’d aggro’d and where it was.
Imagine there are six Humans attacking you. Four of them are in melee range. Two are casters, one directly behind those four, and one off behind some trees. You turn to face the one behind the trees as you hit tab. It targets through every single one of the ones in melee range before it targets him.
Same fight. You now want to target one of the ones in melee. Too bad. It’s going to target everything else in the world — that deer that walked by, that goblin merchant, that rare elite mob you have no interest in using an outhouse — before it targets one of the four hitting you in the face. And it’ll cycle through all of those options again before it tabs to the next mob hitting you in the face.
One time I hit tab six times and I swear it switched back to the same guy between every other target.
I could go on but the weeping is making it hard to type.
Q4tQ Alpha: I’m not quite clear about the new tri/quad spec thing works in Legon. Can you still have multiple of the SAME spec?
For example, can you still have a Marksman Hunter spec set up for raiding AND a second Marksman Hunter spec set up for PvP?
No. The way it works now, instead of having saved specs, you just have your (as an example) Arms spec, Fury spec and Protection spec and can switch between them. This is hard to test fully because not all classes have their full complement of specs active yet, but on my DK I switched between Frost, Blood and Unholy. With talents being switchable on the fly for no reagent cost it’s just easier to keep them all available.
You can’t have three Blood specs in Legion as far as I can tell.
Okay. I didn’t talk about my own writing efforts because I’m currently submitting my book to publishers. So I can’t put it up on Amazon yet. If/when that doesn’t work out, we’ll see what happens. You can buy my other stuff on Amazon now if you want to.

So, I’ve been playing with the Legion Talent and Artifact Calculators and my god…I’m excited. I’ve also decided (finally) to roll Holy Priest next expansion.
That being said:
QFTQ: What has you excited for Legion? Wardrobe? Artifacts? Class fantasy? New Talents? Many Whelps? Many Demons? Moar demons? Demon Hunters? Refusing to let DHs in your PuG?
