The Queue: Rock city

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

I’m not sure why this underground city in Neltharion’s Lair is so visually appealing, but there’s something about it that I really love — I think it has to do with all the golden glowing windows. It’s pretty dark when you’re this deep underground, and because of that, we’ve suddenly got a good look at what a city in WoW should theoretically look like late at night. We don’t really get that out in the regular everyday Azeroth — and I understand why, obviously they want you to be able to see where you’re going after all, but man, I kind of wish we had a city or two like this to just hang out in, if we wanted to.

RAINSPIRIT ASKED:

Q4TQ: If Khadgar and Tirion had a monologue duel who would win?

Look, I’ll admit that Khadgar has given Tirion a run for his money, but between the Argent Tournament and Icecrown Citadel, I think Tirion’s still got Khadgar beat. That may change after this expansion — but it all depends on how often we run into Gul’dan, I think.

N TO THE H ASKED:

QftQ: What do you think will happen to my hunter mogged out in mail that is set to become plate in Legion? Will it stay until I unmog it? Will it revert to no mog? Will I get a refund?

We don’t actually know just yet. Some mail sets have both a plate and a mail version on the alpha, some don’t. Once we can copy our characters from live over to the alpha, we’ll have a better answer to that question — both Rossi and myself have fairly substantial collections of transmog items, and I’m sure we’re not the only fashion packrats on staff.

GWENHYFAR ASKED:

Real QrtQ:  How do you think Tyrande really felt about Malfurion being absent for most of 10,000 years while she had to govern their people mostly alone.. or worse, put up with that a$$hat Fandral?  I mean I know they ended up getting married so she still loved him, but I gotta think there was a little frustration and possible resentment there.

Realistically, you’d think she’d be at least a little upset about it. I mean we’re not talking a two week vacation here, we’re talking thousands upon thousands of years. I suppose they were going for some sort of “love always waits” or “love is eternal” message here with all the years of silent devotion to her beloved. That’s sweet I guess? But I can’t imagine there were absolutely no moments of resentment or anger on her end — heck, she was a little snippy to Malfurion when she woke him up in Warcraft 3, so that’s at least one indicator that there was some strain going on. Tyrande, Malfurion, and their relationship get a little more attention in Legion, though — it’s pretty interesting, and may shed some more light on your question. Be sure to hit up Val’Sharah first if you’re interested in seeing what’s up with them.

CLOUD ASKED:

QFTQ: With some of the hinted at lore moments/spoilers in Legion, do you think we’ll see the re-introduction of scenarios outside of the main story line as we had them in Mists? Or do you think some of those lore moments will be restricted to certain classes?

We have scenarios of sorts in Legion — the Artifact quest chains are framed out in scenarios. But if you’re talking about the kind that you queue up for independently and can repeat when you want, we don’t have those. I wish they’d bring them back. I like them well enough as part of the quest design, but honestly I liked them better when they were a feature that worked as an alternate to dungeons. Being able to chain scenarios while waiting in line to get into a dungeon or a raid was great.

GALDWYNN ASKED:

Q4tQ: Are the Draenei trying to fix the Exodar, or build a new capital ship in case they need to skedaddle again?

The Draenei have already fixed the Exodar — it’s fully functional! It hasn’t been reflected in game, but if you read the short story Velen: Prophet’s Lesson, it’s all detailed in there. The Exodar is ready to go wherever it needs to go, but Velen has decided that the Draenei are going to remain on Azeroth for now. …that’s probably a good thing, because we kind of need them going forward. I’m pretty sure nobody knows the Burning Legion as well as they do!

TIMWB ASKED:

Alpha Q: For those that have played the Alpha, what happens to mobs in a zone once you’ve completed it, as far as the scaling thing?  Do the mobs continue to scale, so by the time you read max level, EVERYTHING on the Broken Isles will also be max level?  Or will some things stay lower level once you’ve completed the zone?  I ask, because if everything continues to scale, that’s concerning to me.  It won’t feel great to the player if it feels like we’re never getting more powerful, and everything hits us just as hard at max level as it did when we were just starting out…

Everything scales to you — I started out in Val’Sharah at level 100, as as I leveled, the mobs scaled with me. I left to do other zones, and when I returned to Val’Sharah, everything is still scaled to me. It’s all level 108 now. Can it still kill me? Yes. Can it kill me easily? Not so much — not with the better gear I’ve acquired. I imagine as my gear gets better, the mobs will get easier to kill no matter what level I happen to be. It’s not really a noticeable difference, that I can tell.
