The Queue: Advanced tactics
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
Far be it from me to question the expertise of the Alliance military. I mean, you guys presumably know your stuff and everything. But um…I feel like I should point out that Southshore isn’t a thing anymore. I mean, it hasn’t been around for quite some time. You know, because of that whole…blight plague thing. So uh, maybe we should be getting our hands on some updated maps, you think? I mean like I said I’m no expert, but it’s just a suggestion.
Can we expect the Profession World Quests to be the same for all characters? Like the WotLK fishing and cooking dailies, it was the same for all characters across the realm.
It’s the same for all characters with a particular profession — the same quests exist for everyone. There are world quests out there though — one of my characters has Herbalism, and every now and again she’ll run into a quest to pick a jumbo-sized plant. I’m guessing those are randomly distributed, as in you aren’t going to get the same world quests every day, but I don’t really know for certain. The quests are definitely a lot more interesting than anything we’ve seen before, though — so far, they seem to involve getting out in the world a lot more, which I kind of appreciate.
Q4tQ: What color is Chromie’s hair, because I’m arguing with someone about it on Twitter right now. Anne, pls resolve this argument.
Chromie’s hair has been depicted differently in a few different pieces of promotional art — most people seem to think she’s a platinum blonde, but I kind of lean one step beyond that. I think her hair is more of a translucent white. It picks up the color of the lighting around her. So those images where she looked like she had red hair, or yellow-blonde? That was just a reflection of the lighting.
Q4tQ: What kind of unique banter should Chromie and Tracer have in HotS?
…you know, I hadn’t thought of that.
Chromie: “Where did you get that magic device?”
Tracer: “That’s not magic, it’s science! It’s a chronal accelerator. My friend Winston made it for me!”
Chromie: “Is he a dragon?”
Tracer: “Don’t be silly! …he’s a genetically enhanced gorilla. From the moon!”
Or, you know, some completely different banter — but hey, whatever they put together should be pretty entertaining!
Q4tQ: What if we completely divorced the talent system during the leveling process from the max level system or have them run concurrently? What I mean is while the talent trees were silly cookie cutter stuff before MoP, they made the leveling process great. You picked what ability you got next at times. You decided if you wanted (random example) more haste right now or something defensive. You got to make these choices every other level. How about at max level, every option and tuning (the +dmg talents) is baked in, but as we level we pick when we add them?
That’s…actually a pretty interesting idea. Kind of like what they’re doing with PVP in Legion — PVP has its own talent trees and it’s own separate methods of “leveling.” Making the leveling experience its own separate, kind of inclusive experience that opens up once you hit max level could be a way to even out the leveling experience while keeping it fresh — and endgame could then be allocated as its own game, rather than the end point of the leveling experience. I don’t know if it’s something that they’d ever do, but I like the idea, anyway!
Q4TQ: How do you think the community would react to a graphical revamp of the old battlegrounds? No change in the actual layout. From doing the torturous [School of Hard Knocks] I’ve seen how dated WSG looks. Would be nice to make it match the current state of graphics.
Getting a visual update of environmental scenery, you mean? I think that’d be nice — it’s not exactly what I’d call a high-priority change, but it’d be nice to see something done to visually update those old PVP playgrounds.
QFTQ: How does dungeon loot work in Legion so far? I long for the days of the old loot tables and group rolls….
It’s personal loot — you can see who gets what loot, it flashes up on the screen in aesthetically pleasing boxes, but you don’t need to roll against your fellow party members to compete for loot anymore.
