Breakfast Topic: Are you buying the Warcraft movie?
We know that the Warcraft movie was cut from a Lord of the Rings-esque runtime of nearly three hours to a more modest just over two hours… and ever since walking out of the theater, Warcraft fans have wondered what they missed. Director Duncan Jones tells us that the DVD and Blu-ray releases will come with bonus features, but they’ll be missing a director’s cut of the film.
Of course that’s not to say we might not get an extended cut of Warcraft that includes bonus scenes. We just won’t get Jones’ own preferred cut of the film… or at least not with this initial release. But even though movies get released and re-released all the time with different bonus features — including new cuts — it’s a bit of a bummer that we won’t be able to see this version of Warcraft when it’s released.
While it’s already available for pre-order, we don’t yet have a full run-down of the bonus features we can expect on the home release. I’m hoping for commentaries, behind the scenes content, and some kind of extended cut, but we just don’t know yet.
Here’s the question for you, readers: will you be picking up the Warcraft movie DVD (or Blu-ray or 4K or whatever other format you prefer) even without the director’s cut? Have you already pre-ordered? Or do you plan to sit back and wait for the next edition, hopefully packed with more features?
