The Queue: Sleeping on the job

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

Let’s play a game of what’s wrong with this picture. Not only is the guard pictured above taking a lengthy catnap, she’s doing so with her eyes wide open. And she’s doing it by mysteriously sitting on thin air. Either this is some really amazing unforeseen military tactic, or she’s absolutely mastered the art of sleeping on the job. We’ll just…let her snooze while we answer your questions.

BOOTY BAY BREWING COMPANY ASKED:

Anyone know if the teleport from “The Schools of Arcane Magic – Mastery”  is still available in the new Dalaren?  I like my private room when i am in town. LOL

You know, I was kind of wondering this myself so I figured I’d log on the beta to do some extensive testing, and I stumbled across something odd, but possibly not intentional. Yes, you can use The Schools of Arcane Mage – Mastery in new Dalaran, and it will take you up to Vargoth’s retreat. The item is now a toy as of Legion. However, the toy will not work in old Dalaran — trying to use it in Northrend’s version just gave me an error indicating I was in the wrong zone.

I don’t know if this is a consequence or side effect of the item being crafted into a toy in this expansion. It seems a little odd that they’d make a toy you obtain in Northrend’s Dalaran unusable in the city in which you obtain it. Maybe they just decided that if you were going to use it in Dalaran, they should make it the Dalaran you’re actually going to be spending time in, who knows — but there you go. You’ll still have a secret hideaway in Legion!

DIAVO JINX ASKED:

Warcraft movie Q4tQ (no spoiler) — How is Lothar riding a gryphon around freely? The movie takes place long before the Cataclysm. No one had Old World Flying available yet — you’d have to use flight paths only. HAXX!

Well technically that was King Llane’s personal gryphon on loan, so you could maybe call that a quest flight rather than anything that required flight skill. Or you could say that maybe in this slightly altered version of Azeroth, everyone’s got flight skill already mastered.

But the truth is, he’s Anduin Lothar. He can do whatever he likes.

SCUNOSI ASKED:

Any word on Blizz reverting the widely-hated Druid Travel form change in Legion? You know, merging all Travel forms into one “smart” button that automatically uses the “correct” form depending on zone, meaning you can’t use your beautiful Stag form if you can fly/are in the water unless you glyph it to be a siege mount for other people. I remember railing about this before WoD came out and we were hopeful they’d change it but they stuck to their guns to save us no bar space (since forms have their own separate bar in the stock UI) and remove a fun RP/cosmetic feature.

It’s still just the one button in Legion, and I mostly hate it. I liked being able to choose ground or air travel. Sometimes I don’t want to be a raven. Sometimes I just wanna be a stag and dance around for comedic effect. With the change, I’m hardly ever able to use regular old travel form anymore, which is intensely annoying — what’s the point of giving us a glyph to turn ourselves into Doe Form if we can’t actually be a Doe anywhere that we’ve already learned flight? It’s silly, and I wish they’d revert it.

SPACEBARD ASKED:

Does the new Magni comic have Legion spoilers in it?

I’m…not exactly sure what you mean here. It’s an official comic by Blizzard, they aren’t going to spoil their own material — it’s just a lead-in comic to the Legion expansion. Regular bout of story progression leading up to the pre-patch and all that.

VALENCEMAGI ASKED:

Q4tQ why did whatsisname’s (Ed. note — Magni Bronzebeard’s) clothes turn to crystal as well?  that’s weird. Or did his socks need to join the collective for it to work?

Yep, clothes and all. Sure, you might be able to shatter him with a well-pitched note at the right resonant frequency, but hey, at least he doesn’t have to do laundry anymore, right?

BURNAK ASKED:

So, imagine you are asked to write a love interest for Anduin. What would she be like and how would she enter the story? Or if you chose an existing character, why her? Not many young females out there though…

There may not be many young women out there, but there’s one prospect out there that is politically viable — Princess Tess Greymane. As the daughter of Genn Greymane, she’s got suitable rank and status, she’s never been married as far as we know, and it would seal a formal alliance between Gilneas and Stormwind. Alternatively I’d say Lorna Crowley, but I’m not sure she really has the kind of desirable status/rank you’d want for some sort of royal engagement.

Anduin’s not really one to follow rules or restrictions — as demonstrated throughout Mists of Pandaria — and in Legion, it looks like Tess has an independent streak of her own as well. I don’t know how well they’d get along at first, but I think it’d be interesting to see.

That’s it for today’s Queue — if you have any questions you’d like to see answered, be sure to leave them in the comments below!
